Anthony Taylor appointed ref for Chelsea

The problem is that like all football fans we feel an injustice if we don,t get decisions we want. The decision to let some one from Wythenshawe referee both city and rag games doesn't sit right with me and could be solved by letting the northern refs referee southern/London games and vice versa. Its when you see decisions like the penalty decision against Sterling, when at best hes guessing, that makes you feel that some refs are bent ie Walton. I live on the south coast and took my daughter to see Pompey play at Fratton Park. We were sat in the home stand and the Pompey fans were baying for blood yet I could see that most of the decisions were correct as I had no emotion involved in the match. If that was City playing I would of been exactly the same.

I certainly do not think City fans are simpletons and as always a poster like Exeter Blue makes some excellent points and raises examples which are worthy of discussion. Hence I researched the Zabba incident.

The only point where I have been riled is when someone decides to state I was another poster previously. I just cannot fathom that.

You are quite correct maybe staying out of the thread would have been a good idea but sometimes you are damned if you do and damned if you dont. But its a poor show if an alternative view cannot be stated within a thread.

As I have stated earlier personally I think football is too fast, too much simulation and too many camera angles to paint refs in a good light. Its an impossible task.

I have never been an advocate of video refereeing but the faith in the integrity of refereees is at an all time low, so if it could be implemented and cause minimal disruption to the game it could only be a good thing.

Of course the forum is for alternative views and I would suggest that you put yours across in a well considered and polite manner – would be good if we could all do the same.

What I would respectfully suggest though is that you do go a bit OTT / get too repetitious in stating your opinion. It becomes it seems a campaign rather than expression of opinion – and through your repetition you can effectively deny others the right to express their opinions.

Yes you are absolutely allowed your view and yes you often acknowledge that we who are convinced that there has been clearly significant bias against CITY also have a right to our views (actually for me it is a case of bias in favour of the scum and to a lesser degree the redscouse – so against CITY when it favours them) – but you don’t half bang on and on. We get it – I doubt that there is a member of this forum that is unaware of your opinion.

In the bias thread you turned it into campaign and actually IMO distracted/spoilt the thread enormously. Whilst you might state we are allowed our view it is almost as if you feel that we have to ‘persuade’ you.

That is simply not the case – we can have out views without needing to validate then though you. For instance no matter your view - I SAW the glee in Dowd’s face when he had the chance to give that penalty against Micah – I have my own opinion about the Clattenburg penalty decisions against Chelsea – and against the scum (much is made of the fact he reffed the 1 -6 game but he gave us fuck all in that game) and so on....

FWIW I firmly believe that the referee bias is changing since the Govan piss can fucked off, but that was not so long ago and many of us have our clear recollections of the shocking bias that used to happen. I watched in disbelief at the 2 ridiculously soft penalties Jones award against Stoke in his ‘comeback game’ – having not been allowed to ref a scum game for months after having the temerity to award a penalty against them – fuck there were so many instances.

It is a disgrace, but IMO a fact, that the FA and PGMOL allowed that twat to have a position where referees felt that they would not be allowed to referee scum matches if he was not happy with them – and to progress your career as a referee you needed to referee top games in your home league – in past years that meant games involving the scum. Webb is a good example of how far you can go if the GPC liked you.

So you might think that most CITY fans have a gripe against most Referees – well the piss can only fucked a relatively short time ago so there will be for almost every referee relatively fresh bias

I hope I'm correct with this but don't all officials have to state on their application forms for becoming a referee whether they have or had a season ticket/support a club. This because that they don't get a game that might involve their club or club that is close to their position so that there will not be a conflict of interest, between the club he/she follows and the clubs around them.

I believe so. Very obviously the 'Altrincham' fan has therefore put Altrincham down on his form and not the rags, precisely so he can remain eligible to referee games at the ground his family used to take him to as a supporter!

This is indeed true.
My daughter went to school with a young man who was an avid united fan, he went regularly and has it all over his face book page.
He wasn't much cop at football and so took up reffing, good luck to the lad.
He's now reffing within the Lancashire FA and is doing well in the lower leagues. However the one major change is that he now says he's a Rochdale fan. His Facebook page is down. She know he still supports the swamp rats
As he is in the Lancs FA he can ref united or City games.
Odd old world.

A few years ago I was given an FA Womens Cup game involving City ladies. Rang the FA & pointed out that on their forms I had said I support City. The response I got was "you don't support the ladies team though, do you? Just don't tell anyone whilst you are at the match".

You'd wonder why refs lie like this. I mean apart from the shame of being a scummy twat of course. But seriously, just declare that you're a red and accept (rightly and fairly) that you can't ref United games. Surely that's what any normal person would do?

Surely no-one would actually try to hide the fact they support team X, so that one day maybe they could ref matches of team X and fix the results? Surely no-one would be so utterly pathetic as to try that???

And there's the problem. If you're a self-declared rag, you don't get them of course but you also don't get us, Liverpool or probably any big game where there might be seen to be a conflict of interest. And if you can't do those big games then you'll never get on as a ref.

I was appointed to a city ladies game this year, did the same as you and they took me off the game!

Upto this point I'd never revealed my allegiance to any refereeing authority, never been asked! I've done City and Utd under 16 games before as well.
