All this debate about bringing in overseas referees for Premier League matches is a non-starter. Do you seriously think that Sky, BT, BBC etc would ALLOW this to happen? Think about it. Level playing fields for ALL teams, the cream rising to the top, a natural levelling out of the league table. "Not in my lifetime" will this happen, as there are too many vested interests involved (are you reading, Mr Scudamore?), not to mention the associated betting companies who have, in my opinion (that OK, Ric?), invested huge sums of money to get the right results for their business plans.
And what about the flip side? English referees in European leagues. There'd be mass lynchings on the continent if the same level of "competence" was displayed by these clowns over there. Perhaps in some countries, where there is already corruption in evidence, they would be welcomed with open arms as they would need no "training" - just be ready to receive your brown envelope. In most cases, they'd be sent back quicker than an illegal immigrant as "not fit for purpose".
I mentioned earlier in the thread that yesterday was the worst display of "refereeing" I have seen since I started watching City in 1959. After a night's reflection and a bit of sleep, I still feel the same. Thoughts of not renewing my seasoncard next season have been considered, like many people of my age (66), but it's in your blood. After yesterday, though......................
