A spike in cases? Or a spike in hospitalisation/deaths.

Case numbers are irrelevant and has been since the start of it all. It’s the hospitalisation and onwards figures that matter. Same with any infection/virus.

In the UK it’s something like 48% of covid related hospitalisations are unvaxxed. Given that about 80% of adult population is vaxxed, that’s a very high endorsement that vaccination works to limit that effectively.

I too am uneasy about sacking people for not having it. They should be forced to undergo a rigorous testing regime instead. If they refuse to do that, then I'd be less sympathetic to their fate.

I also do understand why some are nervous about the vaccine. But I have no time for the idiots who go way, way over the top in their opposition, spout conspiracy theories and compare getting a needle in the arm to the horrors of Nazism.

I'm all for doing research but some think that just means going on Facebook and finding something that suits their views. Proper research usually involves challenging your own assumptions.

Luckily I have Mrs JASR to do my "research", who has access to thousands of UK doctors. A proportion of those thousands of doctors are from the relevant areas - virology & immunology, rather than just a random unrelated to the specialty Doc.

That 'Research' continues to conclude, get vaxxed, and has done since they became available, because it offers the best longterm general population health solution to covid. It's unequivocable.

My own 'research' is purely on the numbers being hospitalized/death. And again that's unequivocable: Vaxxed far less likely to be hospitalized. - And that figure came from a prominent anti-vaxxer quoting official UK figures, who was trying to argue that recently 'only' 48% of the patients in hospital due to covid are unvaxxed. Basic maths 101 failure...

So, in summary. I've 'done my research' by getting information direct from people qualified to understand virology and immunology, and direct from people who don't follow MSM, ie Anti-vaxxers, who happen to not understand basic maths.

As a bit of context, I brought my house off a lovely couple in August, they were selling up to go travelling in France to find a rural home near their kids and have a wonderful life - in their sixties but both healthy and happy - really exciting times for them.

Both I now gather were anti-vaxers and they had to turn the life support off yesterday - he had covid. Don't listen to people who say you don't need it, you do. Government PR, opinion polls, personality and pharma profits are irrelevant - yours and your families and friends lives are.

Being vaccinated is a good thing - only an idiot would think otherwise.

But it really doesn’t stop you infecting “most” other vaccinated people, at least not with the delta variant. The WHO say there is some evidence of reducing the chances but that is less effective after 3 months. The primary aim of the vaccine is to stop you getting as ill, especially to the point of needing to end up in hospital - and there is very strong evidence to the effectiveness of this.
