Unless the plan is to move him to the right and move on from one of Savinho and Bobb, I don't see where he fits.

Funny how it's gone from Bournemouth leaking his release fee to ensure he goes for more this January, to the hottest property in the premier league. Almost as if someone is trying to deflect from a title race and suggest winning his signature is the real prize.

As a reminder, this lad may be great and may be the next big thing, but he's not scored for two months and plays for a team with no European experience and is closer to the relegation spots than top 3. Ghana haven't picked him for AFCON, and his record for them is just 3 goals in 30+ games. Clearly he's had a leap in development recently but does that warrant bringing on a new winger, teaching him the Pep way and taking a chance on his integration? Maybe, if we think he'll contribute more than current players and we can move others on. Maybe not, if we actually have a bigger potential in mind for summer or beyond.

He's clearly a very different player to Bobb or Savinho, although apparently prefers the left anyway so that brings Doku and Marmoush into the discussion. Other teams need him more and I do think that will show, although if he wants silverware we're still by far this best choice.

We're already second and I'm confident they'll both come good. They're already embedded at the club, contracted through 2029 and 2031, respectively, and both are younger than Semenyo. I'm confident that the club knows what its doing, that Guardiola will get more out of both, and that we can invest instead in other areas.

He makes us a better side, but is he good enough for the level we want to be at consistently? I'm not sure. Always an exciting player to watch though so wouldn't be against it but can also hear people complaining about his lack of consistency in 6 months time if we do sign him.

We need help on the wings - Doku is our only true winger. Foden and Cherki are different options and will play a lot but we need some directness as well.

Admittedly savinho and bobb have been poor so far, especially savinho who’s had the lion’s share of the opportunities off the bench. But they’re both talented and this can happen sometimes, I think people are a bit too quick to completely write players off.

Pep clearly sees something with savinho that he currently hasn’t shown in matches and while Pep’s not infallible he’s not often wrong. It would not surprise me if the narrative on here around one or both players is quite different come the end of the season.

Semenyo wouldn’t be a starter in my eyes. I wouldn’t drop cherki or doku for him. Marmoush is pretty direct, of similar quality and is barely getting a look in.

im wondering if although Semenyo can play on the right he’s actually also potentially coming in to rotate with Doku.
