It does take a significant amount of money, but even more dedication.
It wasn't viable after we regularly got in Europe, the cheaper the trip, the more time it took and the less sleep you got, making you knackered the entire trip and there was little utility in it doing them on a regular basis.
Streymur stopped my run in 2008, I had done the previous 3 in 2003, but these days there are just too many.
Baring in mind it was 2008, the Streymur trip had two options to get there:
1. Charter from Manchester day trip - if it couldn't land (which was common) no money back - £400
2. Thomas Cook trip with 2 nights' stay £895 pp sharing or £995 pp single - but money back if you they couldn't get you there.
No one else went apart from the bodged trawler trip, I think tickets were £15.
Decided to fuck it off doing 100% after a long run there and then.
Then you see people doing complicated 4 days trips to Madrid to save on costs, including a night without sleep at all, and I reckon it is 60% dedication and 40% money.
