Hi,

I wrote an article recently, a match feature on the Spain VS Sweden game. In this article, I referred to the Spain team as La Roja and also when tweeting out the article. I got a response from a Chilean who was not happy with my use of La Roja. Is this a common response? La Roja is listed as the nickname of the Spanish National Team as well as the Chilean National Team but this person who responded was very unhappy with my use of it about Spain. I am not very clued up on Chilean-Spanish politics so correct me if I am in the wrong here.

Looks like the term can be used for either, looks like someone got their knickers in a twist for nothing.

That’s my thoughts mate and my boss has backed me up, Graham Hunter uses the term La Roja to describe Spain in his book about the Spanish national team
