Another vote for The Wire

Band of Brothers also excellent and in the same genre, Pacific is also very good.

Going to give Game of Thrones a try after the clocks go back.

I suggest you read some of the books too then mate, I've read the book itself and one about some of the guys who arent mentioned so much in the series. Also a lot of the books from individuals themselves: Heffron and Guanere, Compton, Winters and Webster.

Comptons is paticulalrly good as he went on to achieve quite a bit in later life (Conviction of Sirhan Sirhan). Webster's though is by far the best as it was written not long after the War and he went to war with the intention of writing memoirs.

Thanks for this. The box set is my favourite also. I have also read Winters' account and the Ambrose book which are very similar, and the DVD is true to them.

There is also a very good and moving book by Don Malarkey.

I have the Compton book and will look for the others you mention.
