was on spikes trip, hotel was ok but wasn't fussed with the freezing cold shower in the morning, don't understand why people say kiev was a shithole i thought it was clean and tidy ( i'd certainly go back ) far better than thessalonika which i thought was a dirty concrete hole ( seafront was nice )
had no problems with locals or police except for ridiculous escort after match. only briefly in o'briens, don't see point travelling just to go to an irish bar ( nor do i see why i should give money to an organisation that may support the terrorist side ) so went on a pub crawl and found many nice hostelrys most with likeminded blues in.
one funny thing in the ground just after kick-off i looked down to see 2 lads arguing next bang-bang, 1 went down like a sack of shit, then couple of lads,i thought was his mates dragged him up terracing, out of it, he came round got up ,went to have another go and fell flat on his face, lads picked him up again and lad who hit walked up dragged him by coller and took him out of view,never saw him again, only then realised the puncher was either undercover police or forces, only looked about 20 they weren't taking any shit off kiev fans.
