Anyone been to Turkey this year?

Never fancied it but our kid and his family go every year and wouldnt go anywhere else as they love the place.

Still never recovered from my experience in 1996. Lost about two stone in two weeks. The mrs was surrounded by men every time she went in the sea and I bought about 40 roses from street urchins.

It's not for me.

I had a hairy experience in the Muslim district in Mumbai having been taken to a restaurant there by Indian friends.

People in India stare at you at the best of times. As a Glaswegian, this is hard to get used to as you think, is this **** looking for a square go. I always stare back. In Mumbai this took on more sinister tones.

Guys looking at you whilst on their phones is a great paranoi generator. I wasn't too upset when we left.

Tragically the men who were in my group were gentle souls, so would have been fucking useless if anything had kicked off.

I also decided not to eat, as I had a feeling additional ingredients may have found their way into my dinner.

Made me realise the level of ill feeling towards us by some. By no means all, but it doesn't take all of them to ruin your day.

You do know this thread is about Turkey??

Been a few times, and we'd always enjoyed it. However the last time was 3 or years ago and we ventured further East than usual. Never again. Didn't feel welcome or indeed particularly safe. We had some issues with the hotel and transfers which didn't help but just didn't like the general feel of the place. I don't think we'll return in a hurry.
