Anyone else reckon Tevez...

If someone like Goater came back to City playing for another club they may have done the same thing and we would have loved it.
Carlos Tevez played 29 times in one season for West Ham and scored 7 goals, helping them to stay in the Premier League. Shaun Goater played 212 times for Manchester City and scored 103 goals, helping us to three promotions and our first home derby win in over a decade. The two situations aren't really comparable.

I'm not having a pop at Tevez, I just find the whole thing a bit weird and OTT (from both sides) if I'm being completely honest. Each to their own though; it certainly doesn't offend me.

Doesn't bother me for one second. I think WH has a special place in his heart and I see nothing wrong in saluting an old club, as long as his performance on the pitch is professional.

He may have only been at WHU a short time but 2 points to remember a) they were his first club in UK and b) he had a monumental impact on WHU and he is a WHU legend because of this.
I do not have a problem with it and his attitude is the reverse when he meets the RB's.

Fair point, and it is a bit weird yeah. But we're not West Ham fans, we can't really understand the bond they had with him even though it was for such a short time. It's not uncommon to hear players talking about arriving at their club and just finding it to be their 'natural home' or whatever. It was a pretty incredible season for them that year and the popular consensus is that he saved them single-handedly (personally I think Curbishley deserves far more credit than he gets).

When Carlos leaves us ( hopefully when he retires - but doubt it ) i would like to think he will always be a Blue and his affinity with WHU will have worn off.

I just thought that yesterday was a little OTT as the cheer for Carlos was bigger than when they scored. In fact the whole of the game was played at such (or lack of) pace that it felt like a Carlos Tevez testimonial. If we and WHU had anthing more than 3 points to play for it would have been different i think

yeah it all seemed a bit pre arranged tbh....

It is one of those clubs that players don't want to leave, there is something that seems to bond them to it. I remember Brooking turning down loads of clubs so he could stay there. I've got a bit of a soft spot for them to be honest, that club just seems like a link with football's past. Or maybe I'm just full of it today.

It was one hell of a love in...

He did save them from relegation though...
