My opinion is that you're failing to appreciate is that City are different from his other investments. We, in the words of one of his associates speaking to The Guardian just after the takeover, have been bought because he "wants to use club as springboard for enhancing United Arab Emirates". It's therefore likely to be rather important to him that City succeed, and your implication that we're a small investment in financial terms so he won't give a t0ss seems a little misguided.

I doubt he'd want to get involved in the minutiae of running the club; other people are in place to handle that aspect. However, given the nature of his concern in the club, I think he would certainly expect to approve major strategic issues like the identity of the manager and the overall direction of transfer policy - i.e. not necessarily the identity of specific targets, but the type of player we want to buy and the sums we spend in doing so. I would find it very surprising if decisions taken by Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Simon Pearce or Garry Cook in these areas weren't subject to approval by Mansour and if he didn't take a keen interest in them.
