Assuming we secure 4th spot in a few weeks, I think we have to overcome a CL qualifier over 2 legs (usually held in August) to secure our place in the competition.

Just not read much on the forum about the need to overcome this potential future obstacle is anyone concerned about this?

I know usually the sides you could meet are from a far inferior league to the Prem & you don't hear many instances of shocks but Everton lost to Villareal a few years ago so surely we must be concerned at this bannana skin!. This is City after all, even though I think were shaking off our typical City tag slowly but surely.

I've been saying to people that yes if we finished 4th were there but really it is finish 4th + win the qualifier isn't it?.

I hope we are worrying about that come he 6th May.

Until then, i have 6 other games before hand to worry about.

that comes later, finishing 4th allows us to bring that much more quality into the team once we have these quality players signed up then we can worry about getting through

I'm not concerned. We have a great team with great players, and will add to the squad with more quality players in the summer. Plus, we would be seeded for that particular qualifying round, should we be in it, meaning we'd avoid the more difficult of ties. The quality of the opposition that we would face would be of a similar level to some of the teams we faced in the earlier rounds of the UEFA Cup last year (eg Copenhagen, Twente, Aalborg etc) We've added players like Tevez, Ade and Johnson since then and as i said, there's still aother summer window to come. Why should we be worried? Our opponents will be bricking it. We shouldn't be.

Yeah, the final qualifying round next season is on August 17/18 and 24/25.

The Premier League kicks off on August 14th.

worried missblue?? nah.. the most excited time as a city fan could be weeks away.:)

Even if we lost it we'd go into the Europa Cup.

Rather take our chances with a qualifier than not be in it

Sadly, not sure if this is the case:

Last time the teams in round 4 were Arsenal, Fiorentina, Olympique Lyon, Atlético Madrid, Sporting CP Lisbon, Celtic, Panathinaikos, Anderlecht, VfB Stuttgart and FC Timisoara.

We wouldn't have been seeded as seven or eight of those teams have better co-efficients than us. We'd have played Fiorentina, Lyon, Sporting, Panathinaikos or Stuttgart.
