Apology to the club

@meldrew not having a pop mate as you'll know by my posts here, but as you've realised now, going to court without representation, owning up and doing the right thing has got you absolutely nowhere. All that happened was a prosecution solicitor painted you as the worst invader since Genghis Khan and you got hammered.

Now follow advice, contact the FSA and get appealing.
How true is this.

I went to court for a speeding offence donkeys years ago and thought I would defend myself. By the time the prosecuting solicitor had finished summing up, they'd even convinced me how terrible my offence was!

Unfortunately @meldrew wrong time wrong place. The eyes of the world were on that game and the precedent was set in the weeks running up to it. The absence of legal representation is a mistake. Two mistakes have culminated in the position your in now. The hyperbole in the paper is just that and I’d fight it. However, the verdict is what is. Learn from it. That’s the best outcome from any mistakes we make. It’ll be chippy paper tomorrow.

Thanks mate for the advice.

It's the cost more than anything. Of course I want to fight it, if anything to clear my name but the cost to me wouldn't add up to fight it. Have kids and to be honest I'd rather the money be spent on them.

Like you say I've been painted as some type of anti-christ, the videos are clear to see on the Internet on YouTube, twitter etc and people can make their own mind up.

It's not even about the ban or the fine, I accept them and will adhere to them.

It's how I have been perceived and made out to be.

I saw one of the OP’s comments on the MEN page. He said it was a great story to tell the grand kids which wasn’t exactly contrite. punishment is harsh but it’s quite clear in the current climate he’s been made an example of. Two lessons to be learnt here, no. 1 don’t go to court without seeking legal advice. no. 2 keep off the pitch.

Yes I get that. I'd contact the FSA at least just to see if they can help but I get you don't want to lose more money. I wouldn't worry about the stigma it's forgotten already by the majority not on here. Have City banned you too?

Keep your chin up. The media soon forget and, as other people say, it's a story to share with your grandkids.

Having read the articles I think you’re overstating how you think you were perceived. The language used by the prosecution sounded somewhat hyperbolic and the rest of the article stated your case reasonably well. I wouldn’t worry about that. Hope you hadn’t renewed your ST and if you did you get your money back!

Were you not offered a duty solicitor? Apparently you are entitled to one for free according to the Government website and the legal websites?
