Applauding opposition goals at Home

Never ever have I clapped an oppositions goal. I have never been anything that completely fucked off.

I have admired moments of skill, and even applauded on occassion, but when it comes to a goal being scored against us, I am always too pissed off.

I'd never applaud anything the opposition do at a game. I'm there to see City win. I'll get all balanced and reasonable about things at some point in the future (perhaps).

The Arsenal game people are mentioning, we were 4 down after about 20 minutes, gallows humour kicked in and we started cheering them. Made for a great atmosphere at the time. I remember lots of Arsenal fans on the phone ins later that evening praising City fans for their sense of humour. Those were the days when we were really shit and every one loved us. Things are much better now. We are really good and they all hate us. Love it.

One thing that does happen is when David silva gets subbed when we are away quite often the home crowd do all applaud the great man. If this happens against a Spanish team he often gets a standing ovation as well.

Yeah, I always look over to the away fans see if any appreciate our players performance as they go off, happens more than you think.

Occasionally applaud an opponent off if they've played really well, or if they're a "legend" and it may be the only time I see them live

Deserves credit. But I have never, ever been in the frame of mind to applaud an oppo goal at the time.

Don't get it to be honest - did you applaud Saint Giggs when he fired the ball past a pointing Keith Curle into the top corner? Or Shrek's overhead?

I just feel like crap when a goal goes in

To be fair though, having the ball bounce in off your shin is hardly worthy of praise.

Seem to remember a large swathe of people applauding Arsenal when they went 4-0 up against us at Maine Rd. Seemed like genuine applause at the football being played.
Yep same for most of the crowd that day. A footballing lesson was given. The Arsenal players looked bemused walking off at halftime

Not a goal but remember the Pig Farmer getting a bit of an ovation when he went off for Munich couple of seasons ago
I took my mate who's an Everton fan to that match and as we were walking out he said " I know you're gutted you got beat but that might be the best football team I've ever seen, thanks for bringing me "

Remember Michael Owen getting a round of applause when he scored a hat-trick against us after Keegan had been bigging him up all week leading up to it.
