Are Arsenal actually placing bounties on opposing players?

Lack of bottle and bravery to stick to his principles. In my opinion anyway.

It takes a bit of bottle to stick to how managers like Pep and Klopp want their players to play football. Attacking and pressing and seeing the risk and reward to it. Rather than worrying about the negative sides to the risk like Arteta clearly does by prioritising defending over attacking substance.

His gameplan seems to be wanting set pieces. Christ.
Reminds me of Sam Allardyce in that his biggest contribution is finding new ways to target the Goalie at set pieces.

Fat Sam's tactical genius idea was to have El-Hadj Diouf run in into the goalkeeper while the ref was watching the set piece being taken

All I’m saying is that Rodders WAS TARGETED. Why’s and wherefores aside he was TARGETED!
I have been watching football at all levels for 70 odd years, and was a trained referee at school level and have very rarely seen a team so slyly and deliberately play dirty football like that.
I think we should agree to disagree. Arsenal are becoming a team I would add to my most disliked.
Ar teta was a person I admired when he was with us but over the years he has become a changed person.

Fair enough, I think fans obviously tend to see what they want to see regarding certain decisions etc.

Sounds like he has done his ACL which is terrible for him and for City.

Now you will have loads of fans using it as some sort of tribal hatred towards Arsenal suggesting they have succeeded in getting him injured which I personally think is a little ridiculous.

Plus you will have loads of ‘fans’ of other clubs celebrating that he’s injured and then City fans claiming the whole fan base of a particular club are scum because they are all celebrating.

All gets a bit silly really, when most people who probably don’t go to post such things on social media are actually pretty upset for him and wouldn’t wish that sort of thing on anyone.

It sure seems like it doesn't it? 2 seconds into a game with trying to take out Rodri and then happened again and again..

The way a bounty system works.. coaches or players target players of opposing sides and try to knock them out of games or longer. Whoever actually does the dirty work is financially rewarded with a huge bonus off the books.. so it supposedly never took place.. i.e. covered up.. you're imagining things.. conspiracy theory.

There's actually a well known case of it stateside: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Saints_bounty_scandal
Didn’t they do it to David Silva at Wembley FAC SF, took turns to kick shite out of him until he had to go off injured in first half, which completely screwed us.

Are you a City supporter? I ask because you don’t really write like one, because of your use of City rather than ‘us’, but also because it doesn’t come across like you have the investment in the way you are looking back at the game that a City supporter would have, not one like most on here anyway imho.
If you aren’t a blue, no drama, but I just wanted to ask.

lol arsenal fans are obnoxious, disgusting and delusional, no other fanbase in the world comes close.

Players get targeted all the time though, not saying it's right or wrong, but it's been going on for decades. Do you honestly believe a team trains for a game and has specific sessions or discussions about injuring a player?

Of course they will say 'Rodri controls the game, we can't allow that to happen, we need to be at him quickly etc etc' That will obviously include fouls because that's the nature of the game. You can't try to make a player uncomfortable by closing him down quickly without giving away fouls, that's then up to the ref to decide if anyone is crossing a line.
Perhaps we have been spoiled lately with Pep and how he controls the game, as I don't see that currently from many City players but we've all been to many a city game where we had players doing the same to opposition players.

Many managers over the years have said the same about the treatment their players have had, Ronaldo, Hazard spring to mind.

At the end of the day, both teams had stuff to moan about, which is usually the case.

Imagine some of the incidents happened the other way round, Dias scores a header after Haaland and Akanji block Raya from coming out, would anyone be moaning?

Gabriel Jesus picks up the ball after Arsenal score an equaliser and throws the ball deliberately at Bernardo.... plenty on here would be calling for punishment.

Haaland sticks one on Gabriel after 10 seconds (the stadium would be cheering)

Other than Oliver calling Walker over and perhaps allowing play to continue a little early I didn't see much wrong with the game to be honest.

We would probably have a lot less to moan about if we didn't do the same thing for 45 mins and actually gave them something to worry about in the second half.
Honest question: are you a City fan or a “neutral”?

Yes I am.

I was more annoyed with our pretty poor attempt at breaking them down to be honest.

Yes, that wasn’t helped by the time wasting, but we were just doing the same thing over and over. It was crying out for at least trying something different. Eventually Grealish was a bit more creative I suppose.

still better than yours. enjoy rodri’s long term injury, after all, he did deserve it according to you.

Yeah that’s word for word what I wrote.

You’re a moron. He didn’t get injured due to anything Arsenal did, it just happened.

Arsenal can spend May with the “we injured Rodri parade” if they want, we’ll be fine.

No, no and thrice no

How soon some people forget
Why have I forgotten? A choice between the two and mine is the scousers difficult but that's it Never seen them resort to the cheating that the arse did yesterday and going out to intentionally injury players The fans are about the same but, I would take Klopp over arseteta any day never seen him smile

It's always gone on. The gpc had his entire team systematically target Shaunny Wright. Each player took it in turns to kick him until he limped out the game.
No bounty, just a nasty manager telling his team what to do. They do not have a player big enough to take out Alfies lad so Rodders was next in line.
Rag's did it on Reyes too.
