Are teams bringing less away fans?

My nephew (on the wife's side) lives in Surrey Docks. He is a big Man U (his words not mine) and has been to OT twice ,both times in the 1970s.
He only supports United because his great uncle was a United fan from Waste, who to be fair was a regular at OT in the 50s/60s/70s.
So although my nephew was born in Burnage in 1969, he moved to Devon in 1972 and then to London in the late 90s.
He has a very tenuous link to Manchester.
His great uncle? Lol
Don't think I ever met one of mine!

1,795 apparently.

Ok
My mate a forest fan season ticket said 3k. Forest themselves are taking great away support.
Point is they sold out a longer journey than Burnley had too. Burnley fans have little to get excited about, whereas some fans see their teams as on the up.
Luton , a small club have had some great followings this season because they have momentum.
Nothing to do with Covid, or money. People use excuses if they don't want to go to football.Ours do, transport , queues, ticket issues,
Though we still sell out nearly every away game.

My train back on Saturday was rammed with Blackpool fans coming back from Forest. They have a great away following (as do their rivals Preston).
Top day/night out Nottingham, always popular when northern teams play there. Think most of the Lancashire towns have a similar hardcore support home & away, but Burnley’s is meant to be the best per population, but most of the teams have good catchment areas so I can’t see the argument in that. As mentioned momentum is the largest factor, Burnley had 8-9000 for the cup game a few years back, couple of 5 nils later & plenty of turgid football has probably got their support hoping for relegation & a change in approach

Demand for city away is less and it seems home games at city from home and away fans.

The price of everything has gone up, but most people's wages haven't, and it doesn't matter what the GDP is if households have less disposable income and job security, they won't be forking out on luxuries.
From what I've seen the City away sections have been sold out in a flash in the Premier League . I know each one has been top tier teams but each one seems to have been full and boisterous.

All took longer than normal in terms of points, except united away on 20k when it was 19k in Feb 2020 (when the tickets were sold) and since then a possible 380 + 600 + 40 points added since so on a par roughly.

Even Spurs away where hardly any fans have gone went on sale to anyone, Chelsea 9k points (not been like that for 11 years when that was quite a lot) Brighton went to members, and would have been 18k normally or 22k if we win the title there.

No doubting they were full as they sold out and people who don't normally go are attending.

Maybe a bit early to judge but Norwich, Saints and Burnley seem to have brought significantly less away fans this year than in past years. Is that a fair comment and is it because they know they are likely to see a beating or simply post Covid?
I think the last 2 years have had a big impact on people’s passion for the game.
In my case i would be a regular face at 90% of away games and 99% of home games going back to the late 80s and early 90s. Baring a banning order in 2014 for one season.
For me personally the covid break made me think about things. At 50 years old I just decided the season card was enough and that I would pick and choose away games. Only done one since we was “allowed” back and it really didn’t seem the same.
Each to their own Iam sure and I hope I ge the away buzz back again but watching away games on the tv have become “normal” for me now maybe other people have thought this also ?

Even the £30 away tickets aren't an incentive anymore. I doubt very much PL clubs will ever go back to charging £50-£60 for an away ticket. Bar the big local away games, away ends would be deserted if that ever happened again. With living costs soaring across the board, it's getting more and more expensive to follow your team, even for home games.

I think in terms of demand for away days dropping. That’s actually a good thing.more people have a chance of going to away games now. Less tourists are going as well.

you can see the difference. Much better atmosphere. Chelsea away for instance seemed much more full with actual city fans.

I'm going to Brighton away, and went to Spurs away, and my points total is shite, so I've struggled to get away tickets in the past. So I appreciate it from a personal perspective, but it I do wonder whose slot I am taking that would have gone in earlier years.
