Are the Worms turning?

a bundle of realistic joy.

And for the record I'm not interested in a media love in,don't care what they write or don't in our case, what I do oppose however is our own fans buying into the "its our year" brigade, they beat us twice last year but finished behind us, there has to be a challenger, and if it turns out this season to be Liverpool, then bring it on,we fear none this season, especially with this start we have had,it will take a fantastic side to beat us,maybe you think that team is Liverpool then eh ?

Been predicted for a while. They will shit on us when it suits them but as more success comes, more fans come and more fans equals more clicks equals more revenue when the gutter press write positive stories. I'm a really bitter twat though so I won't be buying the scum bags papers even if theye do start licking our arse.

There's definitely been a discernible shift in the media's disposition towards us this season. Without a single doubt, in my opinion. It's not just the words; there's finally a widespread tone of respect in their voices. More media types are starting to sense which way the wind is blowing.

I think it is not a shift in disposition that is moving in the direction of a more favourable press, GDM. I think it is your last point - they know which way the wind is blowing and, consequently, which side of their slice of bread is buttered!

I agree, DE. I'm sorry if I've not made that clear. I'm saying the change in their disposition has been caused by the shifting sands.

The DT sport section this morning:

Not one single mention of the league leaders!!
good let it remain that way as we piss the league by easter under the radar

I really couldn't give a flying fuck what the two faced grovelling cunts think of us tbh.
Agreed. I never got too upset when they were having their little digs at us, and I'm not going into wankfest mode now that they're (grudgingly) praising us. What they say has no impact on how I feel about our club. Let them say what they want.

I dont care what they say, I dont care who they fawn over or who they slag off anymore, the damage is done, they can all fuck off, from the written Murdoch media all the way through to 4 cunts with croissants and everything in between, much like the people of Merseyside dont care how much smoke is blown up their arse by the Sun.

Couldn't agree more, although there was plenty of smoke blown up Mourinho's arse early on. A chasm has now opened up between him and Pep, first on the field and now in the Press too. Today's Yaya/Seluk saga will underline it. Pep has played a great poker hand with City's undroppable has-been while Pulinho dithers over the rags' version.

Definite shift. All the mainstream, especially Sky pundits, Sunday supplement, etc have been waxing lyrical. My view while its happening is, 'watch it, drink it in' :)

I don't believe there was ever an agenda against us in the mainstream media. The media looks for the best story. Last season that was "Moneybags city can buy the best players but they can't buy team spirit or success", which beautifully complemented the narrative of Leicester's success. With our current form, the best story is now" genius coach sets up city to challenge the best on the world ". That would have been the narrative last year had we produced performances to justify it...
The Yaya/Seluk saga might provide a brief detour into " uncompromising Pep is an obsessive who will get rid of players who disagree ", but the main narrative will be positive now as long as our performances justify it: neutrals well love watching us, and most media consumers are neutrals as far as city are concerned...
No agenda? Fucking hell you don't think 700 million thick click bait and sly subscribers makes any difference to the "gentlemen" of the media?

It's refreshing that someone on here gets it.

Even Garth Crooks didn't have as much of a dig aimed at us in his most recent Team of the Week. Improvement.
Though he did have three Liverpool players in the team of the week and just two from City. I have seen both games and no way they were better than us that much.

Liverpool are already becoming the football media darlings, can't remember how many programs or reports about Klopp I have endured, or the number of ex Liverpool pundits creaming themselves over their chances this year.

Wish I could have said it that well
