Not quite sure just where to peg us yet.

Hard to deny United haven't weakened any, and don't look to be finished adding as well. They won by a fair bit so you have to consider them favourites again at this stage if being objective.

Chelsea have all kinds of depth and quality with Mourinho back in charge and an owner with no conscience when it comes to spending.

Think we are a bit better than what should be a beefed up Arsenal and steady as she goes Spurs. Liverpool will be fighting for champions league and nothing more imo.

I think we have the potential to win the league with our additions and the new manager, but I would put us 3rd until proven otherwise.
 
It's early yet mate the window isn't shut yet. Much easier to get the lay of the land once all the transfers are done. All if's and maybes right now. We might not even be done in terms of transfers just yet.
 
I would not change our squad for another in the premier league. It is absolutely possible to argue the case for individual players but; would I change our defence, midfield or front line for another teams? I have to say that the answer is no.

From the moment I was born at Stretford Memorial through to being held up to the window at Pickford Court, to watch the floodlights of Maine Road, I was very biased!
 
OP is massively underestimating the effect Slurgie had on the team , I would definitely say united have weakened , they do seem to be strengthening but so have we , Chelsea IMO are favourites due to Mou but after that its us and then United .
 
Mourinho should be favourite for the league he has been there and done it in premier Pellegrini and Moyse haven't so really we don't know how it will go with them
 
It's virtually impossible to predict with any degree of surety due to all the variables. Which makes this season a genuinely fascinating prospect.

I'd put Chelsea as favourites because I think Mourinho will get one really good last season out of Lampard and Cole whilst Oscar, Mata and Hazard have a full campaign in English football under their belts.

With us I believe we're in for a rollercoaster first half - with hopefully some exciting games as a consequence - before we settle down after Xmas and find some consistency.
We'll probably be playing catch up by that stage and it's just a question of whether we can string a good enough run together to achieve another title.
 
we are the best side, as it stands. utd will have to pull out quite a transfer to get anywhere near us this season. everyone were always saying how good fergie was, well we'll see it now for certain. Chelsea are very close to us but their brilliant manager can only take them so far and whilst it will be very very close we will pip them.
so its.
us chavs rags in that order. if arsenal get suaez they will displace the rags in to 4th. united really need a biggy but they will know that.

We've just strengthened our team in a way we haven't done for a few seasons, absolute quality additions coming into the squad. United have lost the person who has managed them from the youth academy up for the last 25 years, and that is going to have an effect. Chelsea are yet to make any signings of note, especially up front, and of course have a manager who is doing what they all say never to do - go back.
We are most definitely not 3rd best.

but United and Chelsea will be formidable opposition this season.

Plenty of overhaul at City as well, there will be a real period of adjustment. I agree with the poster that said it will be up and down 1st half with a stronger 2nd half.
 
Although United haven't weakened their squad in terms of personnel, their squad has become gradually weaker. They won't be able to rely on Ferdinand or Vidic as heavily due to their ages, Giggs has had his duties slightly altered and the biggest loss of all - Ferguson - will have them in heavier transition than most of their fans are expecting. It's not like us where a lot of our players disliked the manager and were happy to see him go.

Chelsea are going to be our strongest contenders for the title. Lampard, Terry, Cech and Cole will all be raring to go now that Mourinho is back in town and now because of the signing of Schurrle they've not got to rely on the "Three Amigos" so much. Their strikeforce has a large amount of Premier League experience (Torres has been here for 7 years, Ba for 4 and Lukaku will be eager to impress). I still think they're missing the depth they had under Mourinho last time he was here, but we shall see.

With us, we've already improved the areas of our squad that needed tweaking with some excellent business in the summer: our forward options are the best we've ever had at the club in terms of depth, and to call on the likes of Nasri and Jovetic rather than Suarez and Sinclair makes our team look much more threatening. I think Dzeko and Negredo will be raring to go thanks to our addition of Navas and Jovetic. Our change of management looks to be a positive thing, with most of the players incredibly happy on the tour.

Either way, it's going to be exciting. Don't rule out Spurs just yet either. I don't think they'll win the league but they're definitely going to be a distraction.

Apart from one of footballs most successful managers and backroom staff. I'd say us and Chelsea are on a par now. Spurs and Liverpool have improved. United will be lucky to make Top 4.
 
Last season we seemed to be suffering a hangover from winning the title in such a dramatic fashion,also it appears Mancini had lost a lot of the dressing room as well.We then weakened our squad by going into the last half of the season with only three forwards and second class pre season signings.

In spite of all that we finished runners up to a rag team that seemed to have all the luck in the world, in that every deflection etcetera seemed to go in rather than hit the post/bar and go out and driven on fanatically by a Taggert that knew it was to be his last season.

I don't know enough about our new signings but all the experts say they are first class and that will do for me.They will make us stronger and more dynamic than last year and it now seems we will carry a real threat going forward.It would be the icing on the cake to add one world class stellar signing,one that makes everyone just sit up and say,''WOW!'' but i guess that is asking too much,lol!

We will be there or therabouts,champions or runners up again i'd say.

Not to be picky, but Ba hasn't been here 4 years. He's had 2 seasons.
 
Looking at oddschecker we are all within a whisker of each others odds, which I think is about right. It may not be close but there are too many uncertainties to strongly favour one side.
I see nothing wrong with our squad but Chelsea look impressive on paper and rags won by a margin last season and may yet recruit a decent midfielder.
Rooneys decisions may alter things but I think rags need him more than Chelsea.
