It could work.We need a striker that can do more than just score goals though. We make so many chances due to having a lot of skilful players that can play their part in dominating possession and build-up play. So any striker needs to be able to actually do those things as well. Otherwise we end up with a clinical striker but less chances being created overall (which might not actually increase our goals total).
I don't think De Bruyne is what you'd describe as a prototypical Pep player, but he's so damn good that it outweighs his 'lack of fit'.
I'd say the same about Dias too (especially compared to Stones and Laporte). And I think Aguero beforehand was like this.
I think if the striker is REALLY good then the positives would outweigh the negatives. But any run-of-the-mill goal merchant would probably take away too much from our play. I think that's why the club have been very picky with replacing Aguero.
