Are we allowed to be disappointed?

As we know this forum will go into meltdown if we don't win the league. But will you scold city fans for feeling disappointment in the best season we have ever seen? Where will you stand? If we don't win the league the perspective threads will be everywhere?

If we dont win the league ?? fuck me the meltdown on here last week after a draw away to stoke is but a pre cursor for the mass suicides and mental breakdowns we will get on here if we dont win...

I'd be disappointed. With all the money spent and all of united injuries...

the way i see it in the past its aways us trying for a fair play place in europe and them usually winning the title. now its a fact that they've had 9 months of shitting it, the injuries shit is a myth, we've had miles more and along with the bent sendings off we've done really well. then add the cheating refs.

not dissappointed, more like proud as fuck.
We really really haven't had more injuries than them. They've had one keeper for months, no Vidic for much longer than we've been without Vincent, no Ferdinand for much longer than we've been without Joleon, no Fletcher all season, Anderson (although I don't rate him) out for months, Valencia out for months, Young out for a month, Nani out for months, Hernandez out for months, you could even say no Scholes for six months... We've had nowhere near that level of injuries or amount of time.

Some people will be disappointed if we don't win the league, and off course they have a right to be. The problem is that this disappointment very quickly manifests itself as pure vitriol on this board.

For me, the only disappointment was the manner of our cup exits (incompetent refs in two competitions and pure complacency in the other). Otherwise, considering us now and us a mere five years ago, and thinking about how great it's going to be in the coming years, I'm just loving it.

Incompetent fans and team in the first leg of the League Cup was where we lost that semi-final, nowt to do with the refs.

I totally understand the argument that we should remember where we've been before we become disappointed, but IMO the disappointment comes from wanting this level of success for so long and knowing how close we are, just wanting to not fuck it up. Let the people crave success with passion, don't chastise them with the old, "Think of where we were 10 years ago", though we should of course never forget.

I'll be hugely disappointed if we don't win the league. It'll be tantamount to missing out on 4th place in the season Mancini came in. We all know we've got the players and the squad capable of doing it, but we will have fallen short due to really stupid isolated performances in the final third of the season. I think it would've hurt less were we in with a shout at another trophy, but sadly we're not.

i'm more disappointed with the contribution of the other so called big teams that let the rags have their own way far to easy :)

Never heard of fans being called 'incompetent' before - not quite sure how that works. Anyway, in my opinion we lost the first leg directly as a result of losing the FA Cup tie where we had to play 80 minutes with ten men and then two days later play the Scousers (Where we looked leggy from the start). Not to mention losing our Captain and icon to the incompetent ref from the previous game.

To enjoy success sometimes we will have to taste failure. I also think some fans need to remember how far as a club we have come in the last few years, if some one told you in April 99 that in 2012 we would be challenging for the league with one of the best squads in Europe you'd of asked for a pint of what they was drinking.

But anyway be positive there is a strong chance we won't have anything to be disappointed about!

Just had a good think about the original question, and I'd be very disappointed for a few days and even weeks whenever we fail to win trophies we challenge for. But then I'd think about the alternative; Sheikh Mansour could quite easily have taken over Newcastle or Sevilla, we could be where Villa are now or quite conceivably worse...but he chose Manchester City FC and we WILL win trophies!

Now that's something to be happy, not disappointed, about.
