Are we clearly suffering from a lack of striker this season? Have midtable sides figured us out?

Think we have had so many games where we have not scored against mid table sides. Is it 6 already this season against those kind of teams? I don't see that as a coincidence. Seems like their center backs are more than happy to let the false 9 wander knowing they will never make the correct move like a striker and and arrive at the box. and now since we don't have a central focal point its easier to always show the wingers outside to cross and always cover the inside. basically we never create quality chances as a result it is all like wenger arsenal at his end.

We’re trying to walk the ball into the net again. Opposing defences just pack out the 18 yard area. There’s no way through. 5 points dropped at home to Southampton and Palace already.

exactly like wenger's arsenal team in its dying days

Absolutely.

A proven striker instills fear factor for opposing teams and they take less risks. We had Aguero. Opposition fans rejoice if he's not in the team sheet. We had Dzeko or Negredo for a front 2 with Aguero, and we had Balotelli who makes his goals looked easy when with us.

Then we also had Bony. Not a shining example.

But point still stands. Teams rather us play false 9 than having to deal with a striker.

especially weaker teams. maybe this false 9 provides us with greater control against stronger teams but against weaker teams they love us not having a deadly striker against them.

Yes.
Defences don’t really have much to concern them. Yes midfielders rotating the false 9 confuse but a top strikers mane alone on the team sheet worries defences. For the false 9 to work the whole team need to be at it. A word class striker can change a game in a second if the team are having a bad day.

not one other top European team have zero strikers. Madnes
