Are we going to win the league?

There's still 39 points to fight for.
We need rags to draw 4 time and loose twice, that's more than possible.

The problem is, in the mean time we would need to go unbeaten and win at least 11 of the 13 remaining fixtures.

We are facing a 1 in a million chance, but it is still there to take.
That's 14 points. In 13 games? They've lost three and drawn two (dropping 13 points) in the first 25 games of the season. Plus we just about need to win every single game from here on in. And we've got to go to Swansea (strong home form), Reading (getting their act together), Everton (say no more), the sty (despite last season, it's not easy to get anything from there), White Hart Lane (ditto) and Villa (scrapping for their lives; see QPR last week). Forget it; it's gone.

A rag mate told me that they have more points than the Arsenal invincibles did and one less than Mourihno's record breaking Chelsea side did after 25 games. Amazing stat if true considering how weak everyone thinks they are. I'm not willing to throw in the towel yet but I'm starting to think it's looking very unlikely they'll drop enough points.

And all that after having played City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and Newcastle away.

Have to say I agree with you Jim ....

the gap hasn't fully closed because we just haven't played consistently well enough to fully close it ..... and let's face , in February , and with games fast counting down , we aren't looking likely too either.

No.

We led the way last year, then wobbled. Utd overtook us and then wobbled. We were able to restart our engine and just managed to wobble over the finish line.

We effectively stood still during the Summer, signed no-one of massive importance, and lost de Jong. Utd bought RvP, and released no-one they'd miss. RvP is the critical difference. Had he not been there this year, doubt they'd have won some of the games they did where he was the critical influence. I'd hoped he'd be as injury prone as he was with Arsenal, but no such luck.

Have to say that even with the Toure's coming back, I can't see us closing the gap. FA Cup only now for us in 2013. I hope Mancini can use this situation to influence the Summer buying, to ensure we can buy players able to launch the 2014 campaign.

If we keep performing like this I'd worry about the game against the rags at the swamp.

Wish we could have a one game loan of Balotelli for this game. With Vinny and yaya back aswell we'd have a better chance. As it is they will be out for blood!!!

I believe we could still do it but it is going to take one almighty cock-up from the rags on that one.

We would also have to go on a winning streak that would basically go against how we have been playing this season.

Damage limitation for me really now, when it will be rectified come the summer
