I’m a bit young to remember the Ajax team of the 70s and Holland in 74, but I remember being in awe of their 78 team (that didn’t actually feature Cruyff) watching my first World Cup.
I did learn quite a bit about Total Football reading a book called “Brilliant Orange” which I can recommend.
But watching Pep’s team this season has been brilliant. From the shaky early performances to how he has fine-tuned the team as the months have rolled on has been an education in not making hasty judgements.

I have a newspaper cutting written ny prestwich blue. Its about us being taken over and likening us to a woman winning the pottery and turning from a mousy brunette to a striking blonde ... but she’ll always do something she shouldntI would say the consistent high standard of football this team has produced over the years has earnt them the right to be considered as one of the best teams in recent years.
All that without having a goalkeeper on £375K a week or signing a central defender for £85M.
This current team (players, coaches, staff) are in my opinion the perfect reflection our club. We are so so good and yet so flawed on occasions it's simply Manchester City at it's very best.
