We start every season like a house on fire, winning virtually every game and dismantling teams with a high tempo style. As soon as October arrives we become sluggish and dip in and out of form for the remainder of the season.

Do our players simply lack natural fitness?

No. What we lack is a never say die leader on the field

Eight of those ****s who played tonight didn't break a fucking sweat and they needed someone to stick a foot up their arse

no, just lack of effort. they arent arsed other than occasions, see Barca at home, after that again reverted to type.

One or two brainless players on the pitch at all times is the problem. How many 5 yard passes did Aleks mess up today?

No. Pep warned us earlier on when we were on that 10 game winning run things were going to be incredibly tough this season. Nothing to do with fitness as such.

Whats happened to Toure ? a couple of weeks back he was looking trim and fit, today he looked slow and heavy again.

No, we just have too many players who are slow.

Two slow full backs when everyone has quick full backs. Stones is slow, Otamendi is quicker but not by a great deal. Yaya's immobile, Silva's slow, KDB is pretty slow. Although he's got incredible acceleration over 5 yards, Aguero isn't quick over a long distance to really away from centre backs.

Sterling and Fernandinho were our only two players with pace today.

Too many players who are too old.

5 players over 30 today. It's too many.

The trio in midfield today of Yaya (33), Fernandinho (31) and Silva (30) was too old, you need lots of energy in centre midfield in the Premier League.

Look at the top centre midfielders for our title rivals; Kante, Matic, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Pogba, Dembele, Wanyama, Xhaka, Coquelin, etc. All top athletes in their mid 20s.

Can't argue with that
Another thing you can lay at the door of Txixi. The transfer strategy and implementation has been largely shambolic for 3 years given the money we have. The club have given him so much power and we've ended up with an ageing, one paced side scraping top 4 finishes

It's quite strange that a guy with no coaching or managerial experience can be given such a crucial job. At its heart it is fundamentally flawed.
