He shouldn't have had to bottle it though and that's the real problem, Southgate not being more adventurous or even more tactically assertive when problems are obvious, whether before or after the shit hit the fan Southgate and his lack of managerial ability is the main thing that hurt England.

Well apart from the frogs first goal which defo shouldn't have stood.

You look back at the France goals from 2016, 2018 and Euro 2020 and three quarters of them come from Pogba either crossing from 35 yards out, or playing through balls around half way.

For all his many flaws, the biggest of which is only turning up for France, very few players in the world make those passes which create goals from nothing and France definitely don’t have any.

Without him the midfield doesn’t really do anything.
