do you think it's healthy for the game in England to end up like Spain where it's usually a 2 horse race for the title?

Brainwashed by the fuckwits in the media.

I thought UEFA were planning a new round of FFP principally around capping transfer fees?

I'm not sure that would work unless you had a salary cap too because all you'd end up doing is funnelling money from fees to players' salaries.

However, it might have a positive impact on agents' fees.

But leaving all that aside, do you think it's healthy for the game in England to end up like Spain where it's usually a 2 horse race for the title?

Listen mate, we're not 15 points clear because we bought the best players, we're 15 points clear because we had a fucking top level coach who did exactly that, coach.

No one was saying Stones, Delph, Walker, Ederson, Fernandinho, Sterling Sane or KDB were the best in the world, they were actually saying things like what a waste of fucking money and how we were getting ripped off for spending £50m on a fullback.

If every other **** stopped complaining about what we've done and just got on with coaching their players to defend better or score more goals then maybe we wouldn't be 15 points clear.

Once we have spent more on individuals than you, Rags, Chelsea or Liverpool you'll have it as an arguement until then i'd suggest Wenger et al shut the fuck up and do what they're paid to do.

Summed up perfectly. I shall be plagiarizing.

Spot on Inchy, the gnashing of teeth and wailing from Wenger recently is a joke.

The highest paid manager in football until maureen and Pep turned up, moaning about money, I wonder if he still gets 7% of any transfer fees received by the club?

I hope he stays at Arsenal for the next ten years, they have no hope of a title while he is still there!

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not an apologist for Wenger (I'm in the Wenger out camp)

I'm not complaining about City and their access to funding. When Man Utd were dominant in the 90s, they were the richest club and goes some way to explaining that success.

You could argue that where we are better than Spain is we fairly distribute monies across all PL clubs from the TV deal whereas in Spain, there is no pooling across all La Liga clubs. Given the quality that clubs like Bournemouth can attract because of that money explains why our league is more competitive than Spain's.City, Leicester and Chelsea have been the most recent winners but none of them have yet dominated the way Liverpool did in the 80s and Man Yoo did in the 90/00s

So maybe we are in pretty good competitive health already?

Are you seriously asking this ?

We used to watch Arsenal & marvel at how good they were, even applauding them off the pitch when they hammered us here. We watched them sign up loads of kids from around the world who were better (and worh more) than our first team players.

And we watched that team, give up the fucking ghost, competing with Manchester Utd & sit there in second place thinking they'd had a great season.

So we watched Manchester Utd, start the season expecting to win, & your shower of shithouses taking points off teams who challenged them, then throwing the fucking towel in.

How much fun do you think that is ?

Thnk Christ, Chelsea turned up & ruined that cosy little arrangement & now City have turned up & ruined it further.

And that TWAT Wenger is complaining that it's worse now ?

Horrible, jealous, busted flush, wanker.

I'm hoping this is Wenger's last year and many are predicting it.

What has changed for the better is that now for the first time since he was appointed in 1996, Wenger is no longer in charge of player transfers and contracts.

The recently appointed new team under Ivan Gazidis has now taken on that responsibility explaining why we had the most amazing January transfer window and breaking our pay policy to get Ozil to sign a new contract.. Alleluia!

Merely offering up a reflection.

See my later post to see where I sit on this and it's not with Wenger. I've no problem with City's success. I suspect there will be more change at the top now not less. Anyway, I like watching you play. Great stuff and I wish we had KdB and Sane at Arsenal.

That's not happening. City have just had an exceptional season. In August, City, United, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool were all realistic runners for the title. You could count Arsenal as well but there are such things as February and March.

Even in Spain, Atletico have upset the applecart in recent seasons. This decade has already seen as many different champions as the 80's did and we still have a year left of it.

Yet they have paid a higher fee than we ever have, they even had a 90 million bid rejected in the last window, they have a player on 350k a week, much more than any of ours, they have one of the highest paid managers in the world and they charge one of the highest ticket prices in the PL, they never once moaned when the same 4 were creaming the CL money season after season, creating a huge advantage over the rest and he has the cheek to moan about money

He is just boring now and completely tainting his legacy with them. Hope we smash them in the cup

Now here's a funny thing.

I just looked at the same thread on Redcafe and lo and behold, the prevailing sentiment is that Wenger is making a valid point.

You couldn't make it up.
Yeah, they're hypocritical when it comes to money.

I'd like to see Wenger explain exactly how financial might is behind the current gap between Barca and Madrid in La Liga tbh.

Obviously it's great from a City supporting point of view that we're 15 points clear and likely to win the league at a canter but I don't want to see us winning it by that margin every year as it then becomes a bit tedious - it's more exciting to win it on the last day of the season. As has already been pointed out, pre-Abramovich it was pretty much a 1 horse race during much of the 90's and 00's apart from the years Arsenal challenged for the league and I'm grateful that when Arsenal were in their pomp under Wenger you won 3 league titles, otherwise United would've won 9 titles on the bounce.

Arsenal have actually had a fantastic transfer window and that attack of yours could be utterly devastating so I'm not sure why Wenger is complaining at the moment. Unless he is finally on his way out at the end of the season and his successor is the one that will benefit from some of your recent transfer business.

I can understand where you are coming from but personally and at this moment in time, I wouldn't care if we were 50 points in front, especially when, you look at all the crap we have had to put up with over the years from the Rags, the Media, and any other source putting out the negatives. Besides get the league done early and hopefully that would give us the opportunity to concentrate on anything else we have a chance of winning, Then again there will be the establishment inventing ways to stop our progress no doubt. (FA and UEFA) but at this moment in time. I'm loving watching the media struggle for negatives on TV and on paper but there will always be those that want to try i suppose.

Watching City win the league at a canter will never become tedious me, not ever...!

Oh, I agree fully on that mate. I’m loving this season so far and I’m hoping we’re even further ahead by the time the weekend is out.
