Not sure but if their reasoning for keeping Ozil & Sanchez is that it's worth it to lose them on a free and gain CL for next season then they are incredibly dumb. Losing both of them on frees in comparison to gaining 100m+ and then having to buy replacements of their quality that will probably cost even more than that due to the market is just horrendous business.
There's no guarantee they'll get CL football, even with Sanchez and Ozil in the team.

I agree Jim, just saying from their point of view.

FWIW if they sell Sanchez there's zero chance of top four for them. Would have to bank it all on Europa like the rags did.

I just can't see it happening tbh. For me its either the players sign a new contract or get sold. Like you said its throwing money away. I like how one poster phrased it, can't remember who, they would be paying a 50m loan fee for Sanchez.

Think they still have a chance for top 4 IF they buy a quality replacement. A lot still depends on how the other clubs do business, right now Chelsea and Liverpool are having average windows and Spurs are having none at all.

Yeah, but the time left in the window and their reluctance to spend big could bite them in the ass. I do think; however, that if they sell Sanchez to us they'll cough up the money to meet Monaco's asking price for Lemar.

It's only preseason but a Sanchez-less Arsenal, along with what Spurs look like with no full-backs, Chelsea with no depth, the rags with hoof-ball, and Liverpool potentially losing Coutinho along with not getting Keita or VVD (yet) have me thinking we better win the fucking title this season.

They should definitely get Lemar and pay the fee.

We better win the title, and I think Pep will deliver either way, he has to!!!!

If he don't win it this year then he's gone imo as it would prove the notion that some have that he can only win titles with super teams in non competitive leagues.

Lol,we will never sack pep, not after he is just rebuilding the team into a younger faster team
Of course he will be sacked if he doesn't win things. All managers are, except Wenger bizarrely. No good having an amazing team if it doesn't win titles.

That's what I was getting at. If he doesn't win the title then the only thing preventing him from getting sacked would be winning the CL.

Btw I see you have avoided my Alexis question ;)

I see Arsene's been on the chataeuneuf du pape again. Apparently in 10-15 years football managers are not going to be football specialists but scientists.

Ok.

Honestly this is what you and every other team is hoping for, but it won't happen. You don't wait as long as we did and invest heavily in this manager to sack him after 2 seasons. Our board will be a lot more patient then you think. Even if the results don't go our way, the improvement will be there to compete against the Barca's and Madrid's. Pep's will still be able to attract top talent. Sack him and the next manager won't be able to. But back to you lot.

What question was that, I must have missed it, sorry.

If pep is such a terrible manager as you are implying than as a opposing fan you would surely want him to stay at city and not win anything, My opinion is that Wenger signing for 2 more years is the best news possible as a city fan cause he will not win the PL in that time and why over half your fan base are calling for him to leave...if pep is a fraud then why would you want him sacked?

I'm not implying it I'm just suggesting it could be a possibility. He's never managed in such a competitive league.

Pep won the league 3 years on the bounce in Germany - when was the last time a manager did that before him?
In the 10 years before pep took over at Bayern, there had been the same number of different teams winning the league as the premier league - so how is the PL more competitive?

The question is: Do you think that Arsenal will keep Sanchez if he doesn't sign a new deal by August 31st? They would be throwing away 50m + wages. Do you see the owner and board doing this?

I would say Arsenal are very risk averse and I can't see them taking such a gamble that has more down side than upside.

It depends on his attitude between now and the end of august. Without knowing exactly what's going on behind the scenes, it's hard to say for sure. However I do think they would call his bluff till the end by telling him PSG or nothing. He may be sold but I just can't see them selling to City. Not any more.
