Arsenal (A) | Community Shield | Post-match Thread

Of course any City fan, me included wants to win every game whether its a preseason game or Meaningful game. But the shield is not a trophy & not arsed if we win or lose. A league or cup game, I would've been disappointed. Arsenal players Running on the pitch over a glorified friendly ffs. We had to earn the right to be there by winning 2 trophies they got invited to the game by achieving nothing. The wooden spoon 2nd place trophy. Embarrassing. I thought they were a huge club?! Just like Liverpool always going on how City are small with no history unlike them. But celebrate when they beat us like its the champions league final. Absolute weapons. Shame they can't do it when it counts - In the league & FA Cup. Seven goals we put past them last season. 6pts which won us the league. Not beaten us since 2015 in a league game. 14 consecutive league games on the bounce we've beat them. Beat them in the FA Cup last season & went on to win that trophy. No league for 20 years never won a European cup. Small time mentality tbh. Yet we're the small club?! Jokers. Compliment in a way I suppose. City are a scalp & beating us is a big deal. Beating them is just another game They'll probably have a trophy parade ha ha ffs. Clowns gloating after the game. I was laughing. We really hurt them last season & it showed by their reaction. Just like Liverpools last season at the King power. All this crap about a marker & psychological blow in a glorified pre season friendly. Me & my wife were at Wembley. We were laughing at the players & fans reactions. They'll be crying again in May.
Top post mate. Treble like mate;)

To any lurking gooners and any other fans of other clubs, this kind of says it all.

It kind of says you’re a well supported club with passionate fans who’ve seen not just the good times but the bad ones as well…however, I think that’s true of most clubs

While you never like a defeat you could make the argument that it serves us well from all angles, increases the pressure on arsenal cos apparently they now know how to beat us (big words with no actions), but even better it gives us a little kick in the arse, a little motivation (not that we are unmotivated) but just a little reminder that we arent untouchable and the last thing any team wants is a city team and pep with a little reminder that they still have something to prove.

It was disappointing to lose the game as Arsenal looked knackered after 70 minutes and we could have easily killed them off After controlling the 2nd half. However it will do us good to lose a game and in particular for some of our fans.It was a strange experience in the ground but well done to everyone around us who did try to get things going. Also a big shout to those who stuck to there guns and boycotted the match as it must have been very difficult for many who are always there.

this game is supposed to be between the Champions and the FA cup holders. I cant take the game seriously when a team that doesn't win anything gets invited for coming second.
Would it not be a good idea when a team wins everything like City did that for example the champions of Scotland get invated to play this game.
Spurs played an FA XI when they won the double in 1961, the Arse couldn't be arsed with the game when they won the double in 1971 as it clashed with a pre-season tour.
Double winners should get the option of playing it at their home venue as a reward. Then we could shift it to Oakwell because of concerts at the etihad.

Best charity shield performance from city under pep I can remember. The Premier League Champions and Champions of Europe look in fine fettle considering such a short pre season. Yeah Arsenal somehow won but they have become a laughing stock haven’t they ………

Funny old game ! :)
