If Gonzalez comes in today, if possible from a paperwork and fitness perspective, he needs to go straight into the team. From what I have seen of him at Porto , he has qualities that we currently don't have in the absence of Rodri

I don't know about that. I said it either in this thread or elsewhere, it was a perfect storm of many things which have contributed to this downfall.

So you are saying this is the best the manager can do with this crop of players? I'll be honest though, as I am watching my team get slapped all over the emirates, our recent success counted for very little. Of course it has been a great ride, doesn't make yesterday acceptable. Mental how many fans think it does.

Players must be registered by end of day 6th Feb. So technically he can play if the business gets done in time. However, any club can only make 3 changes to the squad from the group stages, so there would have to be decision by Pep et al as to who is registered and who isn't

I agree, he was bought to replace Gundo and at the start of the season played well while playing with Rodri. He is being asked to perform a role he was not bought for.

With some the legs won't quickly respond to what the brain says and others the legs work but the brain is slow to engage. Not a good mix even for those who are capable of top level performances.

Embarrassing but not surprising.
A starting team with a poor 2nd choice keeper, a midfielder playing right back and the worst midfield in the PL and that’s what you get.
Does not help we seem to be as much danger to ourselves as the opponents are with us gifting them 2 of their first 3 goals.
For the club to be on the final transfer deadline day and not addressed the RB and midfield issues is incompetence.
Pep seems to have no clue how to fix this, playing a team not suited to Marmoosh and Haaland with the entire midfield unable to spot runs, Foden resting on his POTS award and seems to have regressed and after Madrid comfortably beat us then 5th is the best we can hope for.
No desire or hunger in most of these players and most need to be shipped out
