Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

In years gone by this would have stung and stung for weeks. Not so these days - 24 hours and over it.

Totally embarrassed for Arsenal though.
Not as bad as when they won the Charridy shield on pens and got all their families out on the pitch taking photos with the major trophy. Weirdos to a man

I know he's not the answer, but whenever he's not playing, I find myself wishing Doku was available. His inability to stay fit is hurting us.

Good player who always puts a shift in, though a frustrating one with not much end product as of yet. .... a goal, or a decent cross from Doku is more an exception at the moment, than the 'norm'..... he also has a tendency to lose the ball, or give it away a fair bit, which usually leads to him frantically chasing back in the hope of correcting it.

More or less every shot they had went in. That said, we were not great and kept losing possession in key areas. I am sure next time we go there we'll do a lot better.

What counts as "at the moment", only Haaland and Foden (slightly) have more goal involvements. In the last game he played, Doku was involved in the first 5 goals. Hopefully he's back soon, perhaps vs Newcastle or at least Liverpool.

The main issue for me is the lack of leadership and poor mentality of the players. When something doesn't go their way you can see and feel the energy seep out of them. Where are the zabalettas, the Kompanys, the fernandinhos?

The zabalettas and fernandinhos were nowhere near close winning the Treble and 4 in a row.

Some of our players are tired, including mentally. There's a reason why no team has won 4 in a row in England and had gone 26 games unbeaten in Europe (an all-time record). The heroic efforts have their costs. Some fans don't understand the costs or are unwilling to accept them.

I don’t think some fans realise how long it takes to build a new team/squad. Look at the time it took the dippers and how long Arsenal have gone title-less. We’ll be quicker, hopefully, but games like these will happen.

It’s going to be a rocky road for a while yet.

Enjoy and celebrate our past unparalleled successes and support the club as it embarks on its journey to recover its place at the top.

I actually thought we did okay after they scored early up to our equaliser. Pity we gifted the second goal so soon but in the grand scheme it doesn’t matter too much for us, just a dropped point reallE

more than anything im sad that this era is so spectacularly over and i have a hunch Pep will not see out the rebuild either

no more amazing Kevin goals/passes, no more Bernardo pingers, Gundogan silky burst into the box, Walker running down whichever hot left winger was all the rage, a Riyahd Mahrez gravity defying touch, Eddy wrong footing some striker with a nonchalant Cruyff turn and probably no more John Stones being John Stones we knew.
My thoughts too and great, great memories, but, maybe - just maybe - last Sunday was our nadir - it's darkest just before the dawn and the best is yet to come.
:-)

Totally agree with your positivity here.Thank you. It did indeed hinge on their second goal. If Phil hadn't given the ball to Partey it would have remained 1-1 with us now in the ascendancy. Yes, we shouldn't have capitulated as we did (and have done recently) but matches often turn on one moment, and Phil's moment was such. Their goals 3,4 and 5 would probably not have happened. More likely was that we would have scored the second goal or at least have shared the points. Too much emphasis on big scores. Forest were thrashed 5-0 and next week win 7-0. That's football. Cut out the silly passes to the opposition, City, and no reason why we can't get results in the tough matches ahead this month. Pep's team selection, for once, was good today. Not his fault that Stones, Akanji and Foden gifted Arsenal the game.

Agreed poor from our Phil but the deflection could have gone kin anywhere !

Do you know what really pissed me off about Sunday? Arsenal fans giving it large to elderly couples sat next to the barrier of home and away fans at the back of the away end behind the goal. Wankers.

We must have a better option for RB than Nunes. Also it is Peps responsibility for the backroom staff and we seem to be happy with the worst set piece coach in football (watch in the next month or so marmoosh will be coached out of his good corners), a medical and conditioning team who cannot keep a player available for selection or up to fitness of any other PL teams and god knows what our defensive coaches do as we are a shower of shit at the back every week.
We were in that awful run of 1 win in 13 well before the window opened and we have spent money on 2 young unproven defenders, and not addressed the midfield issues, that's on the club.
We now have 2 top quality front players yet lack the tactics or personal capable of playing to their strengh and not being capable also of spotting their runs.
Soon we will be out of the CL and then perhaps with 1 game a week we can get that 5th place spot which may give us CL football but there is no fight, desire, energy left in most of our starting 11 and it needs a huge clear out in the summer
Sorry to say, i think your right.

They’re such a bunch of twats, they won’t win anything this season yet they have the fucking nerve to do that. Actually made me want Liverpool to win the league.

And he well and truly did him. But as usual ignored by the media.

Well he didn't do him and he never even touched him if I remember correctly so that is why the media haven't said anything. It was an unfortunate incident. Had Havertz had injured him when he went out of his way seconds in then it would have been a different story
