Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Keep saying it but him and Nunes should be nowhere near the team.

Too much pampering and primadonna esq for me.

When the chips were down last night and we needed a couple of 15 minute shifts to see the game out we bring on these 2!
I agree in a way he’s not top level but he’s still decent. I actually thought he was superb defensively with some of those crosses. Not sure what was going on with his boots when he first came on.

Thought Nunes tried at least, he's just a poor buy that we are having to shoe horn in.

Savinho just needs to go In January, he does not want to be here.
For the Savinho comments.

I'm fairly ambivalent about Nunes, ok he has penalty inducing brain lapses, but he's got a bit of pace.

There was so little in it in the first half - Arse were so pedestrian - I commented that it was hard to tell which one was the home team.
Our goal visibly shook them. It took them until halftime to get over the fear that the City of old could be lurking inside today's City.

Evidently, Captain Scarlet told them to go for it in the second half, so we just stayed in formation, handled wave after wave of attacks with relative ease, but we also posed a danger on the break.

On paper, this match was ArseAnal's to win, lose or draw. They earned a late draw out of it, but considering our different situations, it was the Tarquins who'd be more gutted & worried after the game ended.

Odegaard apart, they were at their strongest. They also knew we were a team in transition & nowhere near our strongest. It's them who'll be having sleepless nights & worrying if they'll ever have enough to go all the way for trophies when it really matters.

Make no mistake about it, we'll have inflicted psychological damage on them yesterday.

Not having a go at the team or the outcome as I'm not sure anyone here who is A) sane and B) has been following the sport for more than a few months actually expected a win or would have been disappointed with a draw - but with the game set up we appeared to be opting for there at the end- Lewis on vs. Lazinho would have been the better shout.

A) He moved to Galatasaray

Yesterday was a sad indictment on the club, that we had to employ such agricultural methods to get a draw
I'm sure Mourinho has a wry smile after yesterday
is that the Mourinho's team being investigated for illegal agent payments and gaining sporting advantage ....... not so special as you think

Contrary to popular opinions here, I’m not very impressed by Doku performance. There is not much real chances from Doku despite we are the side to counter and should have high number of counter chances. I saw Doku slowed down many counter chances and if we could make the score line to 2:0 it will be much better situation. The team is mentally exhausted at the end of the game being purely defending for the whole 90 minutes.
Oh ok
do you have banana bread recipe?

But did we play really well? Really?
Did we defend fantastically or did we just defend deep and with numbers?
Listen if you're happy with that, then I respect that. I just believe that we should be better than that. I'm just asking myself, would Real Madrid or Barcelona or Liverpool do that?

It just seems odd to me that Pep would pick this moment to dramatically change his philosophy. For someone who believes, to his very core, that to cede possession so easily is almost a sin. Why now? Why not last year when it probably warranted it more.
fuck off rag

Judging by the odds for the CL, Arsenal are considered a top 3 team in the world right now. They had 2 days advantage, played at home and couldn't get more shots on target than us. Anyone complaining isn't being serious. We have had a better week than many, including me, expected.

I think Donnarumma has had an effect on the team similar to that of Dias in 20/21. If we win the next 3 PL games, we'll challenge for the league sooner than expected (after the losses vs Spurs and Brighton).

Savinho isn't good enough .... he's unable to effect most games whether he comes on a sub, or he plays the 90 minutes.
Personally, I think he had quite the effect yesterday (the art of 'fighting without fighting').

Sometimes it's what a player doesn't do that makes the difference.

Then I heard the two pundits, C arragher and Roy Keane agree that Arsenal had the best squad in the PL and were well capable of winning the league. This confirmed my fear that for all I might not consider Arteta to be a likely PL winner Arsenal are actually a very good team, strong in all areas
Well, in that case...

Seriously, you really put weight on what those two have to say?

EDIT: (Or have I just been suckered :-/?)

Thought we played alright, I don't get where all this bollocks is coming from.

Arse are a good team and were at home.

We scored a brilliant goal early and then had the next best chance with Haaland and Reijnders again.

Our keeper was superb and commanded the area, none of their cheating bullying at corners like they normally get away with.

Arse we're chasing the game for 85 minutes, they had to.

The goal was unavoidable and lucky (how often do you see those drift passed the post). However, having seen the replays we were well and truly robbed.

Goal ruled out for a foul the referee missed.

Look at the ref's position, he is straining to see the incident, it's a clear and obvious error.
Yep, I'm not convinced our defence from last season would have dealt with 11 corners from the Arse without conceding from one of them. I know it wasn't the typical possession based game from us, but I think we showed in this one that we've become more solid defensively, which is something that needed to be adressed.

My mates an Arsenal fan and he's fuming. They have the most active plastic following on all of social media who are so deluded they make the rags look sane sometimes, but their real support know that Arteta is a coward who is scared shitless of us.

You are right. Lewis would have worked hard. Something that Savinho will never do.
