Arsenal (A) - Post-Match Thread

VAR was spot on today, Arsenal claim, ref gave corner, not clear and obvious (Eddie got the ball ffs) VAR let onfield decision stand.
City claim, onfield decision no penalty, VAR check shows Bernado being tripped and pulled back, clear and obvious foul referred to ref, who changes his decision
This is the VAR we were promised and when used like this is doing its job well.
Ref was very good too, got most things right

We were so terrible.

However, that may be the most satisfying win of the season. We don’t win many like that. Also the bitterness is just so much fun.. I feel cleansed for the New Year.
Its call winning when you don’t play well. Every champion does it, it psychologically destroys opposition teams.

I can’t believe people are honestly complaining at how we played wow. Won it in the last minute who gives a fuck. 11 wins in a row and against a team who’s had a week off and in good form.

It's a huge three points that, not sure how we managed it with a poor performance but fuck it. Got to give praise to the lads for showing big character after playing three games in five and a half days, amazing effort. Nobody stood out as a motm, probably give it Ake again, looks quite suited to that left back role

Brilliant to win a game like that when we weren't at our best and hopefully bodes well for the rest of the season.

Arsenal were the better team in the first half, but they contributed to their own downfall. Stupid yellow card for scuffing the penalty spot, which is small time anyway. Then clear second yellow for the foul on Jesus.

As for the penalty. There's two clear fouls on Bernardo in there, so Arsenal and the biased pundits can do one.

Special mention for Rodri, popping up with a huge goal and an even better celebration. Love the guy.

Scuffing the penalty spot, constant moaning at the ref. It's as if George Graham was sub contracted in to manage in the absence of Arteta.
Great win 3 good points. Loved the team reaction at the end.

That was our 3rd game in 6 days, and against a fully rested, confident and aggressive contender for a top 4 place. It wasn't surprising we struggled. They were the better team for most of the 1st half. Great win, though! Rodri will be a club legend. He's only 25!

Officials did well. The fact that Arsenal compete with United for top 4 helped the officials to take the right decisions. The only controversial moment was the non-pen call. Looked like 50/50 to me. Did Eddie catch his leg before touching the ball? It looked so from some angles.

Rodri though, what a player!

Arsenal player stood on Edersons ankle from that slowmo

it does look like it, doesn't it? Just clips his calf and snags the sock.
The attacker definitely put his foot in the way to ensure contact, and if he's not there clearly ahead, it's usually not given. At full speed, they must surely arrive at the same time.
