I dislike them as much, if not more than you do, but to say they are not a huge club is simply wrong.

Anyways, I'm bored of repeating myself, keep telling yourself you are right, I'm sure you will agree some time.

It's all a matter of opinion. My opinion of Arsenal is that they are a club that had a very rich patch where they were considered 'big' but are now a spent force. They are not, nor have they ever been huge.

Huge clubs win things regularly.
Huge clubs win the Champions League (or at least reach the final more than once).
Huge clubs do not sell their best best players to clus they consider to be rivals and replace them with inferior ones.
Huge clubs don't settle for finishing 4th.

There are really only 4 'huge' clubs; Real, Barcelona, Bayern and sadly the Rags

After that (at this current moment) you have Us, Chelsea, PSG, Dortmund and Juventus* that are big clubs who have a realistic chance of breaking into that 'huge' club group.

*Juventus could possibly still be considered huge.

Back on topic I was talking to a spurs fan the other night when it dawned on me that even though I hated Spurs (due to that FA Cup 1/4 final defeat at Maine Road) I had always been able to hold a decent conversation with them about football. Arsenal fans just tend to be 'cants' who sneer, call your club classless and talk about history.

arsenal, newcastle, spurs, liverpool all have bigger fan bases than us. I base the size of a club on fan base.

we are a big club who brings in a lot of revenue and as of 2011 we are a club that wins trophies.

but we're not on the same scale of the likes of chelsea, juventus, dortmund for size IMO.

"but we're not on the same scale of the likes of chelsea" In my opinion City are and have always been a bigger club than Chelsea.

For me, we're only just overtaking the levels Wolfsberg and Deportivo reached when they won titles in their domestic countries. We are not this big club some think; yet, but we are ever growing.

-- Fri Jan 25, 2013 1:24 pm --

Very similar, for me.

Almost identical record attendances, almost identical worst every average attendaces, very similar trophy count pre-takovers, very similar sized stadiums, very similar worldwide interest, currently very similar player pull...

We're like a North:London mirror image of each other.

Neither are anywhere near the size of Dortmund or Juve.

we were up until the late 90's/early 00's.

since then their fan base has grown greatly.

we will surpass them though within the next 5 years.

Didn't want to start a new thread.

Did anyone see Wenger bitching this morning?
He was having a go at Newcastle about the number of players they have/are signing this window.
He was saying that it should be limited to 2 or 3
His reason being that it is not fair for the teams that have only played them once so far this season
Because they might be significantly strengthened for the run-in!
I couldn't believe my ears!
He really is a whinging french cry baby

He probably knows he will not be allowed to spend anything this window haha

Absolutely nothing. I bet they all went home and told their mates how they tried to get on the pitch as well.
