Can someone explain what exactly is stopping them getting on the pitch? its clearly not the stewards because he just walks past looking at them

Typical behaviour from Arsenal fans. Act all hard in a group but none of them actually did anything about it and went on the pitch.

I think like the rags, Arsenal fans have come to expect the success that Wenger brought them as a divine right, and now that they are no longer getting it, they are acting like spoilt children, who don't get their own way.

Arsenal have always had strong tradition but their support has fluctuated wildly over the years. They had relatively small crowds and a pitiful away following for most of the 70s, 80s and early 90s. During these periods Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham always took more away from home. That said they have enjoyed huge worldwide growth in the last 10 years and they are undeniably one of the biggest clubs in England. The fanbase has changed hugely in its make-up though. They used to enjoy strong North London support but there is no doubt they now have more daytrippers than any one (Rags apart)

So you don't think Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England then? 60,000 a week, sell out every away game, 3rd most league titles, shit loads of other major honours and people are saying they aren't a big club. Can't understand that.

Are you playing the fool or do you genuinely not understand what I'm saying? Are Arsenal as MASSIVE as City? And their attendances aren't 60,000 every week. There's always empty seats.

Some harsh stuff on this thread. Every club has a 'deluded' section of its support.

At Arsenal there's a split. There are those that think we're still challengers for major honours, label ambitious players as disloyal and blame everyone else but the club and Wenger for our current position.

Then there are those of us that are not happy with the way the club is run. We realise that the owners have zero ambition and are happy with the status-quo as long as the money keeps coming in. Poor wage structure means that we can't attract/keep top players and can't shift the dross - resulting in an average team that challenges for nothing and further pushes top players away (which the board are only too happy to sell). And to top it off, the board take the **** with ticket prices.

We're still a big club though. Our history still means something (yes it gets less relevant as time passes and it isn't added to), we still sell tickets, merchandise, draw in TV audiences, Champions League regulars, own a state of the art stadium etc etc.

In terms of bitterness, you'll find most of it is directed towards the board (and some to Wenger).
