Arsenal (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

No need for a tin hat mate.
I totally agree with you.
I would say his distribution is probably better than Ederson’s and he’s not afraid to catch a cross.
He hits a v low trajectory on his long passes and I think that suits the big man up front.
We must have been watching different matches. All I saw was him repeatedly lumping the ball up to half way, straight on to an Arsenal head.

Kdb is a major worry for us and I’m hoping it’s just a blip but kdb losing form is 75 percent of what’s not right atm .
He's being played out of position though. Get him back in CM and see how that goes. If no improvement, then he needs a spell out of the first team.

I will put my tin hat on but I would seriously think about giving Ortega more games, He seems to me to be a much better shot stopper than Eddie & he is fairly good with his distrubution, not as good as Eddie yet but could possibly get better with more games.
I agree to an extent, his distribution is ok if we are lumping it up to Haaland but those killer passes are still Eddies best bits however he’s nit producing those at the moment, those two saves in the first half I don’t think Eddies makes if I’m honest.

Yep, was doing my head in.
It's weird how we all see the game so differently. First text to my son during the game was, "I think Ortega's pass completion rate must be about 10% tonight". And I come on here and the first thing I read is that his passing was better than the keeper who (IMO) probably has the best passing of any keeper in world football.

I would say long passes rather than a lump forward. Often just nothing on short. I thought he did well.

I also suspect it was part of the game plan.
Yes, I'll give him that, it was clearly a game plan so that was never going to look great for him but he was just floating them up to the half way line in the general direction of Haaland and most of the time were just headed away. Nothing special at all in that, most keepers could have done something similar imo. I'm not trying to knock him but surely people don't think he has anything approaching the passing ability of Ederson.

I also texted something similar to my lad! Distribution was poor.

5 things I'm taking away from tonight.
1. Long balls to Haaland work.
So nearly led to a goal, Rob Holding couldn't cope all night, had tons of help from Paul (Fucking) Tierney and still ended up booked and taken off at half time. This has to be part of our game plan. Haaland seemed to enjoy the battle.

2. Ake is Ace.
Great finish, kept a massively in-form Saka completely anonymous. I like Cancelo for his attacking strength but Ake is the best defensive left back we have by a country mile.

3. Gundogan + De Bruyne + Rodri = Too Slow.
I hate to say it cos I love Gundo, but in difficult games we need pace in midfield and you ain't dropping Rodders or Kev.

4. We need to keep Bernardo Silva.
Please ... whatever it takes ... get him an "ILovePortugal" T-Shirt ... buy his Mrs a dildo the size of Belgium to keep her happy ... do anything to get him to sign a new deal. If the effort and ability that Bernardo put in tonight is him on wind-down then God Help the opposition if he's ever motivated. I love this guy and I think we'll only realise how good he is when we don't have him anymore.

5. Arsenal are the real deal but we can still do this!
That was a fucking hard game. Space was at a premium and it was a constant struggle to get through their press. They have skill and strength and that wasn't even their first eleven. Having said that, their main threat is Saka and he was in Ake's back pocket throughout. In fact Ake got so bored he had to score a goal to Iiven himself up. They also visibly tired on 70 minutes and even with subs + chasing-the-game they were unable to get the ball off us by the end. We will need to be 90-100% perfect to win both league games against them but Pep will have learnt loads from tonight and we definitely gained a psychological advantage. As well as a step closer to another FA Cup :)

Note to Self : Don't start writing lists at 1:30am
Good Ana we
Well chuffed with the win.

Probably in a minority on here but if we were to lose 1 of the 3 games v Arsenal I’d prefer it to be a league game ( obviously Hope we win all 3).

Might be my age but would love us to win the FA Cup again
Well we surely must have an easier draw next round
