Arsenal Post Match Thread.

i've given up caring, if the idiot that is Pep starts with Navas at right back with Zabaleta on the bench, then the fact he is a tactical genius is a myth.

Goes on and on about why we dont win because we dont take our chances, when the obvious failure in the way he plays is defending (or lack of it) .

Clearly he's given up on the league. He didnt give us any hope in the Chumps League and its he pining his hopes on the FA Cup to save his reputation of a 'trophy winner'. He'll fail on that as well.

He harped on about coming here to learn, but 9 months in, hasn;'t learned the simple fact that the English game involves a strong defence to be successful. Yet his gung-ho arrogance is costing us. He wont change. Thats why he wont win anything at City.Cos he too stupid to adapt to our game, he expects the game to change to his style.

And he's clearly shunning the leaders and strong personalities that will challenge him like Zabaleta, Kompany so he feels like the king of his castle. Thats the reason Hart was ousted, Joe would have been a loud voice in the dressing room when things were going wrong, Vinny, would have done that, Aguero has had a say and is only playing cos Jesus is injured, Zaba will say things when they arent going right. Pep is punishing those players that fight for City when we need them by not playing them. Not saying Sterling, Sane, Ferny Kev etc arent doing their bit, but they arent the types to question the gaffer, rather say "yes sir".

I hope he changes. I hope he brings a solidity to out defence to compliment our attack. Chelsea and Spurs have no problem finding the balance, so if Pep is a genius, he should be able to too. But i dont think he will. Season is over for me.

You clearly don't know anything about Pep with respect to players having opinions He want leaders, intelligent footballers who can recognise situations during the game and adjust things Do you think that for example Phillip Larn wasn't a leader for him? He lauds 4 or 5 of his Munich players for their leadership and intelligence I dont see any leaders of the ability of them in the current squad. Absolute nonsense without any knowledge that you are spouting, you sound like a spoiled child that has had his sweets taken away. Calling Pep an idiot, good grief you need to look in the mirror. With respect to Joe it's clear to a blind man that Joe wasn't a leader shouting "come-on" doesn't make a leader.

really?? I thought we were poor to be honest mate and the set up and formation was defo all wrong! we started brilliantly but then for some reason backed off and in that first half arsenal swarmed through our midfield and poor navas was targeted straight away with literally no help from sterling. defence is still shocking and I still see no reason why vinny is not given a chance in there? if he is fit then the defence can surely only be better with vinny there? clichy is a shambles these days and it looked for the first time that the players who are out of contract didn't give a shit about their performance.
So the set up and formation was wrong during the brilliant start? One of the problems with this squad, and it was highlighted by Pep about the Monaco game is they don't have the right level of belief in the tactics This season has proven that the squad needs stronger characters, something that's been lacking since the takeover

I, like many, am disappointed at the 2nd half and feel deflated by a draw but i'm amazed at the abuse City have got from the first 50 pages of this thread, i dont think we quite warrant that?? have our fans really become that acrimonious?

Clichy is a fucking embarrassment, he's shockingly bad , but more worrying is the lack of balls running throughout the whole squad, that's something money can't buy and spending £200m more won't remedy it, it's a cosy boys club City - has been since the first title win, then we had characters and leaders on the Pitch.

Tevez, Barry, Milner, De Jong, Zabba, Vinny , Joe- all gone and our bollocks and dressing room along with them, they've never been replaced - our last two PL seasons have been a fucking joke and it looks like we will finish 10 plus points behind the winners again.

Past fucking caring tbh- throwing money at it hasn't worked,we are a cheque book club throwing its money around hoping some of the shit will stick to the wall .

Dreadful post.

The reason Chelsea and Spurs have 'no problem' is because they have miles better defenders than we do. Isn't that really really obvious? Our full backs are an absolute mess.

I shouldn't be surprised though. I remember your abusive and offence Sterling comments last year when he needed a boost from us fans.

Can't say I'd be upset all the defensive players left the club and we never saw them again. No feelings of admiration towards them at all. Navas should not be starting any game and should only come on to protect a lead, the man only offers the opposing team a chance to counter with his pathetic crosses and pull backs which never find a team mate.

I see there's A LOT of criticism of Pep doing the rounds again this morning. Seems thoroughly misplaced to me. Yesterday was simply more of the same from a collection of players who going back a long way now have found it difficult to impose themselves and play when faced with any resistance. Arsenal didn't even need strong resistance, all they had to do was get hold of the ball for a minute after our 1st goal and we collectively disappeared into our shell. It's such a baffling thing to see. Not one player in the 2nd half played like they had any need to go on and win the match. The pedestrian nature of the passing and movement made the game feel like an exhibition game at times. Like I said, baffling.

One thing though which really stood out for me whilst watching Navas flail and Toure lumber though was this. Compare and contrast. Thiago, Vidal, Xavi Alonso, Philip Lahm, Javi Martinez, Renato Sanches, David Alaba, Josh Kimmich. These are all the midfield options Bayern have to wrestle control of a football match. It's safe to say that putting Toure, Fernandinho, KDB, and Silva next to that list more or less tells it's own story. For all the talent of the latter two, they are beginning to show serious signs that they actually aren't good enough to play as number 8's because they simply can't do the work going back towards their own goal and can't impose themselves on games where they're faced with physical midfielders like the ones Arsenal fielded yesterday or Monaco did the other week.

More open heart surgery on this squad this summer. Lets hope that they finally implant a backbone into the squad whilst they're at it.

have to agree. You'd have thought we'd been beat 5 nowt the way some posters are whinging. I can't think of a time when a draw away at Arseanl wasn't a good point.

Navas wasn't the problem yesterday it was Kun AGAIN !!

That's very harsh. Personally thought kun worked really hard, scored a good goal and his goal return since coming back in the team is fantastic. The issue was NOT kun, it was our abysmal defence and midfield which wasn't much better.
