Arsenal thread 2012/13

Charlie nicholas has just joined the rest of the bitter cnuts having a go.

In November 1984, while at Arsenal, Nicholas was given a second drink-driving ban in the space of two years, after admitting driving with excess alcohol
Is that how Charlie earned his respect and showed his class?

What a wanker. Er; Nicholas, not you!

Arsenal don't have anyone who can score against big teams. It's OK to put 6 past S'ton, but they should have scored more against us. They won't be challenging come January.

I thought if we'd have scored in the first ten mins of the second half when we were applying pressure we'd have gone on to get 3 or 4 but we didn't and we just let them gain confidence.

Arsenal are to lightweight to mount any serious challenge.

I think they will simply because Chelsea and United are far from great themselves and we are like a different team away from home

financial results 2011-12 for anyone who might be interested.

profit £32 million

cash reserves £154 million - that will increase to £180 million once the Queensland Road property figures are included

net (stadium)debt £64 million

the biggest problem remain the terrible sponsorship deals with Emirates and Nike which have another two years to run. Once they are renewed in 2014 you can add another £50 million to annual revenue.

Bottom line is you have 2 more transfer windows to help yourself to players :-)

When teams repeatedly sell their best players it's pretty easy to make a profit. These figures don't even include the RVP or Song sales.

No, although there won't be a big profit on transfers this summer as most was reinvested, so thats a step forward. Like I said, its about the shirt sponsor and kit supplier deals from 2014.

Arsenal have been earning precisely zero from those two sources for the last six years as the money was taken up front towards the cost of the stadium.

Once thats taken care of there will be no more need to sell players. The club will also be more or less debt free, so things ain't looking too bad.

Indeed, things are looking very good for Arsenal. In FFPR world, they will have top spending power, one of the best. To stay in the CL through the process of paying off the stadium has really solidified their position. They'll now be another 'uncatchable' in the top 4.
