Wenger is now claiming that City tapped up Sagna long before his move. Has he said anything about his own club recently?

He just said it looks like Sagna had agreed to go to go to City a long time ago. Lets be honest, the talk was that he was in contact with City for ages, which of course both parties are perfectly entitled to do. Again, a bit of a sensationalist headline.

Edit: Just read the MEN article who are suggesting that it was longer than the 6 months, although it depends on what he means with "a long time ago." If that's the case, he has a bit of a cheek, considering i'm pretty sure he got guys like Chamakh the exact same way.

Yeah, for the second time in less than a week a misleading article has been published about Wenger and City - he's not outrightly accused us of tapping Sagna up but the headlines suggest he has!

Awkward travel but that's about it. Should qualify comfortably from that tie.

Wenger is an intelligent guy. He knows the way football works and the way the media works. He is well aware that comments like this will be interpreted in a given way - i.e., that City have been nefarious and "tapped up" Sagna. Indeed, IMO, it is a deliberate ploy of his to make these kind of comments as an implied criticism and then let the media do the "dirty work" for him. Of course he isn't going to come out and say "City broke the rules", that would be a stupid thing to do, but the point is he doesn't need to do that to get the effect he wants (and indeed he did exactly the same thing with the Lampard loan).

To be honest, it wouldn't be that surprising if City did "tap up" Sagna (in the sense of speaking to his agent) before the six-month period. In fact, I expect that is exactly what happened. So, you might say, what is the issue with Wenger's comment? I think it's the rank hypocrisy - the fact is that this is just what happens in football, and Arsenal are no less scrupulous than City in taking advantage of it when it suits them. Indeed, you cite Chamakh as an example of that. So really it is quite breathtaking hypocrisy on his part to try to stir things up in this way. When taken together with his (IMO absolutely ridiculous and underhand) comments about the Lampard loan, it is easy to understand why City fans might feel that Wenger is targeting us.

If he dates those 6 months to January, isn't Sagna allowed to negotiate a contract if he is to be a free agent within 6 months, with another club? Or am I mistaken?

We are talking about a walnut faced cnut who sold his best player to the rags which effectively won them the league, not to mention the other players he has sold, Nasri etc etc. The man is a complete fool and a seriously sore loser, has there been a player recently who he has been happy we have bought... Hope we obliterate the twats on Sunday, just to see the peevish old twunts face again, you know the one I mean... ;-))))

I would agree with one exception - he HAD to sell those players because of his miserly approach to spending - he thinks clubs exist solely to make money not spend it. He seems to want all other clubs to operate the Wenger way and when they don't he gets peeved. Because they don't Arsenal went donkeys without winning a trophy which further lead player to want out - for bigger contracts and the chance to win things - he is a fucking tool.
