Can anyone give a quick recap on the events to this?otherwise what did they do...

Here you go mate - you may not be surprised to know that Liverpool and United were also involved in this dubious saga:

"Norris's most infamous contribution to Arsenal's history was his role in the club's promotion from the Second Division to the First in 1919. Arsenal were elected to the top flight in spite of only finishing fifth the previous season (1914-15, as competition had been suspended for most of World War I). This promotion came at the expense of other clubs, most notably Arsenal's arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. It has been alleged that Norris bribed or in some way unduly influenced the voting members of the Football League, in particular the league chairman and owner of Liverpool, John McKenna; at the League's AGM, McKenna made a speech recommending Arsenal's promotion ahead of Spurs thanks to the former's longer spell in the League (Arsenal joined in 1893, Spurs in 1908. Although Preston North End & Wolves, who both finished ahead of Arsenal, had been members of the league longer than Arsenal, Wolves since its inception in 1888. Although no firm proof has ever been offered, Norris's other activities, including the scandal that led to his downfall, are often cited as circumstantial evidence. Some claim that Norris 'bribed' McKenna, although this is pure speculation. Probably more likely is that he lobbied McKenna, who fearful of Norris exposing the corruption in the league at the time (Utd and Liverpool were accused of fixing the last game of the season) yielded to Norris's request to promote Arsenal to Division 1 based on their longer spell in the league and their professional status."
Cheers m18ctid,it seems even then there was clubs up to no good, why does it not surprise me to see Utd and Liverpool involved...

Yep, it comes as little surprise. I will add of course that City weren't found to be whiter than white back then as we were implicated in the 1904-05 bribes scandal. However there is one huge difference - while we were punished for our perceived indiscretions, and so severely that we almost went out of business, Arsenal, Liverpool, and United were never punished for their roles in this little saga.

I see le arse have let Sanogo go on loan to palace.

I thought winger was against the loan system. I'm sure he had a whing when we loaned a player to another premier league club.

I thought we were good yesterday. Very disciplined and didnt cave in when city had a decent spell. It helped that City didnt turn up but a great result for us in the end.

Cant argue with that. You had a plan and stuck to it. City were dire which Arsenal were partly responsible for with the defensive shape and discipline they held all game.

You thoroughly deserved to win to be honest. We could've gotten back in it early in the second half when we stepped it up but even then you were hitting us on the counter. I thought keeping Sanchez quiet would be the key to us winning but was wrong and Cazorla was the main man.

It wasn't just a case of us not playing well - sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition and it was a tactical masterclass from Arsenal, which went against recent history where you've tended to struggle in the big games away from home.

Would be funny if they beat the Rags to fourth place by three points or a two goal difference.

Surprised more of you Tarquins haven't resurfaced on the back of yesterdays win.

That is true but when City are on top form, even faced with a tactical masterclass from us, youd still get a goal or 2. Still winning at City is great anytime and it will give us huge confidence for the rest of the season. I am certain we ll take points off Chelsea when they come to the emirates, we havent turned them over for a while too. 3rd is up for grabs for us and a decent CL draw means the season could end positively.
