I think most of us were thinking that about the hammers after 20 mins.

Big blow for them today, losing a 2-0 lead at Anfield, you can find a way to make some excuses for that, losing a 2-0 lead against a really struggling west ham, nothing excuses that.

Maybe the bigger worry than the losing 2 leads, is the fact that in both games they were flying at 2-0 up and once the other team got a goal, they have just went to pieces and have been lucky in some ways to even leave with a point.

I fully expect them to beat Southampton next Friday, but if they lose to us, they are in big trouble imo, they have to face Chelsea (H), Newcastle (A), Brighton (H) and then Forest (A) all very very tricky games.

It means if we beat them we have some wiggle room, if we draw they're not sat comfortably, and if we lose they're not running away with it.

It also means they have a week to reflect on the fact that come the crunch time of the season they are starting to get shaky again.

In isolation, not very much. We've gained two goals and two points on them. If we win the game in hand (whenever it's played) and also beat them, we can afford to draw one of the other games, I think. It's more the cumulative psychological impact on them; successive 2 goal leads thrown away. As soon as Benrahma stuck away that penalty, they were probably thinking back to Anfield. Imagine if the improbable happens and Southampton go ahead next friday night, and are leading with 20 minutes to go. Combine that with our current run of Ws. They'll panic.


They'll easily beat Saints, though. Unfortunately.

Anyone who doesn't think that drawing 2 games when you were winning 2-0 in each one, and when you're being lauded as the Champions elect, doesn't change things really should give their head a wobble. It undermines confidence totally, and results in you doing things like missing a crucial penalty, and your manager trying to change his usual manic behaviour, so as to try to emit a cool demeanour. Arteta's been jumping round like he's got St. Vitas dance for the last 8 months; suddenly, he's broody, walking at the pitch side with his arms folded. His confidence is shot, just like his team's is.
Equally anyone who thinks that Pep did the wrong thing in rotating for the 2nd half yesterday when we were 3-0 up and meeting Bayern away next Wednesday, should also give it a wobble.
10 days time is crunch time at the Etihad, when they come face to face with that fuckin' big shark again, and they finally start to kiss goodbye to their Premier League hopes. And people won't have sympathy with them because they been shown to be a bunch of cheating mard-arsed cunts.
