Arsenal Thread | 2024/25

Its the boy cries wolf syndrome soon they will have a player that goes down with a genuine injury and the ref will play on regardless :)

Still at the end of the day for all these dark arts football they still have nothing to show for it ............. its ok adapting these tactics if your getting the rewards but they aint ............he simply has to win something this season but they wont because they are to emotional

In some ways I can see why they went down this approach as Arsenal had been looked upon as a soft touch for a number of years. The problem is they have taken it too far now and are gaining a bad reputation for it. Even worse for them referee's are wising up to their antics.

I can't think of many teams where this approach has been successful, certainly not any form of sustained success. That great Leeds team under Revie played this way and never fulfilled their potential. Atletico are the same in Spain. Mourinho's teams have some success playing this way but again it soon implodes.

This season is shit or bust for them I think. If they don't win a major trophy then the myth of Arteta and all Arsenal's promise could start to unravel.

Actually I thought the defence did very well vs Haaland. He scored his goal, after Gabriel left a big gap and Savinho made a nice pass (superb clinical finish from Haaland btw), and he had a header saved but was largely pocketed in the 2nd half despite playing vs a 10 man team that had flown back from Italy on thursday night and had 2 of the starting back 4 subbed off with cramp for a Polish reserve team player and a 17 year old making his debut.

Haaland's scored a billion goals this season already and when Trossard was sent off surely the feeling was the game was made for Haaland but they largely frustrated him to the extent that he had a go at the aforementioned 17 year old making his debut, and then threw the ball at Gabriel's head after Stones got the equaliser (apparently this is all cool with VAR lol). He then tried to bulldoze Partey. He basically lost control.

I'll let you be the judge if you think that's classy or not, suffice to say the Arsenal defence will remember his actions and he can expect a warm reunion with them at the Emirates next year. Havertz has apparently already said that the foul on Rodri in the first seconds was to remind him of what he said about Arsenal's mentality in an interview at the end of last season, I'd expect Haaland has talked himself into getting smashed at some point in the game at the Emirates. All very unseemly and nothing I'd condone but there are signs he's getting carried away - you'd never see Mbappe do that for example.
You are a total prick mate, get the fuck off a city forum. Talking yourself into getting smashed here.

The fucker is treading a very fine line with his post. It happens a lot with opposition fans on here. They start out okay and are given a bit of licence then start taking liberties. They forget this, a general.football section or not, it is still a City forum.

Shown your true colours there mate with an utter pile of hogwash.

I suggest you delete your profile and crawl back under your rock.

If you can’t see the blatant gamesmanship and cheating by your team then there is no hope for you.

Adios.

A big write up on the MSN website here in NZ spouting how good their defensive masterclass was. Not a single word about players suffering from cramp (illegally) or time wasting by their goalie. I posted a comment mentioning those "dark arts" tactics - simply in order that anyone who reads his article can see he is a biased Arsenal reporter.

I have just seen the BBC's report of yesterday's match calling Arsenal performance to be "streetwise" instead of what it was, cynical and anti -football .In all the years Liverpool were our main challengers, these were not their characteristics.Yesterday, I left the ground with a bad taste in my mouth because Arsenal could win the League which would be a retrograde step for football.
I thought I would never say this, but, if we can't win the League this year I hope Liverpool can win it, that's how strongly I feel about Arsenal dragging football back to the dark days of anti , win at all costs football

The BBC condoning cheating, being shady as fuck and breaking the law , i suppose they are at least keeping on brand.

Goalie at one point late on went to place the ball on the left side of his box to take the goalkick. He then (as he had done all match) picked it up and took it to the right side of his box, took a couple of steps back and then sat down.

If Oliver had been doing his job he should have given him a straight red card.

P.S. They should stick to rugby in NZ, and sheep farming.

Not sure which Arsenal player is was. He feigned injury, Arsenal lost the ball, City attacked, he got up straightaway, ran, and tried to defend. He got absolute dogs abuse from the whole of the Etihad.
Martinelli, he tried going back down after that play the shitbag
