A look at the stats will answer your question.Hmm. Sporting away in a few weeks isn't going to be the gimme fixture for Arsenal I thought it might be!
I didn't watch tonight's game - from a City perspective were City awful or were Sporting really good? 4-1 vs City just doesn't happen.
But equally, a repeat of the sort of defending that has typified our recent results. Carved open with single passes leading to goals in almost every game this season, including the ones we won.A look at the stats will answer your question.
A freak result that was topped off by some nomark ref giving penalties out like they were confetti
The score line was a bit weird as we should have been 2 up in first half - second half we looked a team on last legs - lot of players struggling with injuries - arguably 8 x proper first team starters out even before we kicked off. Young academy lad debut..at centre Half ..away...v Sporting ..in chumps league game with 60,000 vocal partisan crowd... big ask...all of that and some debatable effort and tactics - got what we deserved in the end - you will beat them. They will be manager less too effectively - oh yes last hurrah for the manager the club loves - only gonna end one way. I wouldn't read too much into that game. As i said, you will beat themHmm. I think we need to be pragmatic v Brighton..we always go 100% to score in first 15 mins - get carved - one down in first ten minutes nearly EVERY game...can't afford that v Brighton. I would be happier 0 - 0 after 70 mins and go from thereBut equally, a repeat of the sort of defending that has typified our recent results. Always thought that was a weird placeIt used to be played a lot at Alkrington Youth Club which I used to go to @ 1969/1971.
So yes pal, it is certainly going back in time a bit.
Yeah, Arsenal should beat them. The score line was a bit weird as we should have been 2 up in first half - second half we looked a team on last legs - lot of players struggling with injuries - arguably 8 x proper first team starters out even before we kicked off. According to UCL / UEFA criteria its was handball maybe the PL criteria is different but that is irrelevant The one against Arseanal was the sameIncluding the one given to us!
That assumes we're capable of playing that way. With a half fit squad.I think we need to be pragmatic v Brighton..we always go 100% to score in first 15 mins - get carved - one down in first ten minutes nearly EVERY game...can't afford that v Brighton. I would be happier 0 - 0 after 70 mins and go from there
Equally our finishingBut equally, a repeat of the sort of defending that has typified our recent results. Carved open with single passes leading to goals in almost every game this season, including the ones we won.
