Arsenal Thread | 2024/25

Some noise about that Arsenal are preparing a bid for Jack Grealish. Fee unknown but won't be the £100m City paid.

What think you City fans? If you got £70m or so would you let him go? I think he's a fabulous player who is out of form presently but is world class at his best.
Jack is a very good player and has done well here. If we can get anything like that amount of money, then I think it’s a no brainer to sell him on. You can see why pep likes him since he controls the ball. He isn’t shy getting stuck in. Seen him many times sprint 50 yards back to thwart an attack.

For me he doesn’t score nearly enough goals. Always thought he was best suited in the middle of the park but he isn’t getting there ahead of Kevin and Phil. Well, maybe now he might be an alternative there but I don’t think pep thinks so.

Why would the Arsenal want him? They need a striker.

Arteta doesn't seem to believe in strikers. He turned down Gyokeres for £50m in the summer. He'd cost at least £25m more now.

Grealish would be perfect for the way we play and give us more of an outlet on the left, plus he draws fouls around the edge of the box and Arsenal are lethal at set plays.

Seems like he may look at Martin Zubimendi for £50m although I think Liverpool are also looking at him. Isak would be an amazing signing but that's surely a £100m+ purchase and I don't think we're playing in that pool any more.

Saka's out until mid-feb at the earliest. Arteta must be glad he played him in the Carabao Cup game against Preston (as just one example).

This is the type of injuries players get when they are flogged to death. It was inevitable. I've no idea why we aren't bringing on Nwaneri earlier - particularly when we are a couple of goals up.

Ozil had all the talent in the world but none of the application and Auba was taking the piss with his attitude around training and setting a bad example. These players hardly flourished after they left.

When you're up against Pep and Klopp, the most common outcome is not winning trophies but nobody can say Arteta hasn't transformed the club. Whether we win something or not let's see but we were a soft touch before he joined. Today, nobody will want to pull Arsenal out of the hat in a cup competition, even the very top sides will want to avoid us. Pep won't fancy an FA cup tie at the Emirates, that much is for sure.

Anyway as if Arsenal weren't unlikeable enough to supporters of other clubs, it seems Elon Musk is sniffing around the club with a view to a possible takeover/investment.
You think pep is scared of you lot , lol

70 million for a winger who'll be 30 just after the start of next season is an absolute no-brainer. But tbh, we can't afford to sell anyone at the moment. We should have a 3 in 1 out policy for the next couple of windows. We've only got 21 players who've played over 10 games for us, and of those, eight (not including goalkeepers) will be over 30 before the start of next season, two will be 34 and one will be 35. If we can get a decent chunk of change for a player like Grealish to help pay for a rebuild, we'd be silly to turn that down. But equally, we don't want to be in a situation where we're trying to replace the entire squad in one go. We're shit at the moment, but let's not pretend we don't still have the core of a multiple title-winning side.

70m on a 29 year old Grealish? Would be ridiculous to offer that sum to City, so they can discharge a player they want to move on, and for a healthy fee too.

If we have 70m or so to spend, to direct for Kudos or even Lookman. 70m is way too much money for a player who is almost 30 & would be a clear subordinate to Saka and Odegaard in our attacking pecking order. Watching City v Villa last week, Villa's tactics were a direct insult to Grealish, they gave him all the space knowing his end product is minimal.

So what if Liverpool are looking at Zubimendi. Zubimendi had reservations about leaving his home city. Therefore in the case he decides he wants to leave, the chance to live in London is vastly better than ScouseCity. Michelin star London restaurants, or Scouse Beef Stew. Plus Arteta is basque

Dont tell me you would surrender to Liverpool in a direct fight for Zubumendi?

Absolutely not. London is a massive attraction. I just meant the Dippers are also interested.
