I get it that you will staunchly defend everything about the club, but calling public response to what was effectively yet another bottle job an 'overreaction' is undermining what the sport is about. Winning at all costs is NOT on the table, as far as I'm concerned. The spirit of the game should never be allowed to wallow in the gutter like it did with Revie all those years ago, and having professional footballers go out of their way to deliberately injure another is a big no-no.
The attack on Rodri (because that's what it amounted to) was premeditated, almost certainly orchestrated by Arteta and your training staff. It could have ended the man's career, and the thug who was responsible for it will not be at your club forever, he will move on to warmer climes and enjoy his retirement in luxury, not giving a flying fuck about the man whose playing days were ended by that totally unwarranted display of cowardly violence.

There was always going to be some fall-out from your display, Arteta must have anticipated some kind of negative feedback from the media after instructing your team to go out and do what they did in front of a televised audience of millions and millions - despite him feigning surprise at the resultant backlash.


Prior to the game I was relatively indifferent to Arsenal, not anymore. After yesterday's disgusting performance and the loud cheering when an opposItion player was injured, I now put your club in the same category as I do the rags and the dippers.

There is footage on the MSM web site of Arsenal using the exact "dark arts" tactic at Anfield last season.
 
Arsenal deliberately injured Rodri, let's make no bones about. They are so desperate, that is what they are reduced to. Arteta is out of control and is unchecked. He cannot see and probably doesn't want to see the faults of his players. It's been going on for more than a couple years now.

Arsenal, United and Liverpool fans en masse glory in the injury of opponents. I've heard and seen it with my own very eyes. Sunday was another example.

As grossly objectionable, vile specimens as they are, I don't recall Bacon Face or Klopp sending their players out to so blatantly injure opponents. When K***e did that to Alfie in 2001 that was purely him.

Arteta sent those players out to injure Rodri and they succeeded. It started with Havertz and ended with Partey deliberately running into Rodri. Their fans cheered loudly. The vile cheating behaviour of Arteta, his coaching staff, players and fans was the worst I have seen in all my years of watching football. It surpasses Real Madrid and that very niggly Crystal Palace team that kicked our boy Blues off the pitch in '87 - that mad arse cowardly cheat Ian Wright and his thuggish mate Bright being in that team. I never saw "prime Leeds" in the flesh though saw them in Cup Finals on their "best behaviour " so I can't compare Arsenal to them.

Arsenal deliberately injuring Rodri is disgusting and glorying in it is off the scale - words fail me.

I don't know a single Blue who was happy that Odegaard got injured. Like many I would rather beat their best team, as would the most important man in our club, Pep.

Arsenal may feel vindicated that they got a point and managed to take Rodri out. The trouble is other opponents know what they are and how they operate. I predict this won't end well for them. They aren't emotionally intelligent enough to cope when the pressure is on and somebody will duff them up metaphorically. Hope so. I won't though be wishing injury on them, though.

It was a barge (Haaland was at it as well all match), Rodri got up, ref and VAR decided nothing doing and the match went on. If there had been anything nasty the ref or VAR would have stepped in.

20 minutes later Rodri had his injury and there was minimal contact, it was an unfortunate injury. Jurrien Timber had a similar injury last season after an innocuous contact. There was nothing premeditated about it.

I genuinely hope Rodri isn't out for as long as feared and makes a complete recovery. But to state his injury was deliberate is in my opinion outrageous. This was no Keane on Alf Inge Haaland.

It’s still surprising to me that no close up footage of the incident is being shown of Havertz deliberately barging into Rodri with seconds on the clock. He is a cheating whining shithouse who will get his comeuppance . It looked like his arm or elbow was raised from a distance but nothing was shown except the high up long distance from the top of the stands camera

One of the commentators on the Hoofoot clip I watched actually mentioned that it looked like an arm to Rodri's face. None of the media items I have seen have focused on that incident BUT they were going overboard for a ban to Haaland for throwing the ball at Gabriel's head.

Not sure why Raya wasn’t awarded the yellow as well rather than the safety of a 17 yo kid sub. Its very much I know what your doing but I’m going to do fuck all whilst pretending to take action.

From poor man's Barcelona 20 years ago to poor man's atletico now. To be expected as arteta only spent the twilight of his career at arsenal, and mostly injured. He was schooled under moyes at Everton. Really, he's just reverting to type.
He's never struck me as an intellectual ala Pep, or a charismatic manager like ancelloti. He's a pretender, and is being found out.

This is why he has reverted to win at all costs, he has spent nearly 800m quid over FIVE years for an fa cup win and that is all in terms of trophies tent peg is outstripping him at this present time and despite all the press plaudits (and lets be honest anyone who challenges city gets those, it was the same for liverpool) he has done nothing but massively underachieve at that place and he knows it hence the shithousery that he employs, he had one surprise title challenge which fell away massively, spent another 200m last year and despite us missing kdb and haaland for large parts of the season still couldnt get the job done and the reality is that he knows he is being found out and all the aftv wankers and press plaudits cant hide facts.
 
I can't say as I know a great deal about Arteta or what he's achieved in the game. When he was at City you couldn't help but be aware of what he was doing, obviously: any news and club releases you'd see or hear about him. But since his defection I haven't taken any interest in what he's doing. It is only because the media has forced his day-to-day activities down my throat that I know what is happening. Like the other two red-shirted, over-hyped, yesterday's clubs in the Prem, the tabloids are making damn sure you don't forget them with their wall-to-wall coverage of everything they do.

I did notice in the Netflix/Prime (or whoever) series on them recently that he seems to be a man on edge all the time: a ticking time-bomb, like he's not 100% in control of his emotions. That makes him a danger to both himself and to those around him.
I don't know what the majority of their fans think of him, and I can't say as I care, but I would not want a man like that running my football team - questionable mental strength.

Of the five teams that have appeared at the Etihad this season Ipswich, Inter, Brentford and Watford - they all stand in stark contrast to the disgraceful 99 mins the Arse served up on Sunday, and not one of those refs, imperfect and inadequate as they might have been, didn't compare to the Oliver shit show of sitting on his hands in an attempt to avoid controversy!
