We had a shit season but to say compared to you our injury list was a walk in the park is wrong. Sure, you lost Rodri who is the Ballon D'Or winner but we lost our best 2 players for big chunks of the season, lost our only main forward, our lead centre half and had a ton of red cards, a couple of which were justified. We have nowhere near the depth of quality to come in that City does hence for the best part of a month we had Raheem Sterling as a serious striker option.

Fact is we both had shit seasons, nothing to be proud of from either side and we've both let a bang average Liverpool team win the title at a canter.

I suspect City won't make the same mistake twice- I hope we get our shit together as well although I've a feeling we'll finish 3rd, and Arteta will be out.
You really need to get a trophy win in the FA Cup or C Cup to take the pressure off.

You think Rodri was the only player we lost to injury.
Ederson,John Stones,Ake,Akanji,KDB,Haaland and Oscar Bobb

Add Días. At one point the entire squad of titular central defenders was out injured. Two of them still are!
I can't remember if Ed's injury coincided with that period. I've got a feeling that, thank God, it didn't. But basically, given that neither Rico nor Nunes are genuine full backs, in my view, we had the entire defence out. Joško was holding the fort as a genuine defender, and he'd actually be my dark horse for team player of the season. Sure he makes the occasional mistake, but he is a genuine class defender, for years to come.

I wouldn't say they're bang average. Just, they're not comparable to the team of three or four years ago. They're certainly better than the United team that we let win the league in 2013. Now that was bad. That was a a team well past its sell-by date.
They're a goodish team, along with two players who, eerily, almost never seem to be out with injury, and one of whom is a winger whose figures for this season are unreal.(Not just the goals, but the assists). Neither you nor we had a player anything like Salah this season.

Seen a post from aftv about them beating PSG on XG like it was something to celebrate. Get the parade organised!

They really don't help themselves when it comes to being relentlessly mocked do they? A spurs fan could not have dreamt up AFTV in their wildest dreams.

I think though there's a narrative that this PSG team is formidable and will dominate the CL for years. Villa should have beaten them and we'd have done them if we could finish. Also both Pep's Barca team and the City team that did the treble were better than this PSG side.

Recency bias is real with the current PSG team.

I've a feeling that ship has sailed. City will be back, Liverpool are strengthening and Chelsea will get stronger. We'll finish 3rd in the PL. Sure we will sign a striker but none of the names bandied around are transformative in quality. It's not like we're signing Lamal and Mbappe.

I read today that Arsenal are now the most profitable club in PL history. For our Yank owners THAT is the trophy. That's what concerns me - from a hierarchy perspective we've already achieved the holy grail of making shitloads of money. A trophy is irrelevant to them.

Basically this was the year to win it for both PSG and Arsenal.

Psg also missed plenty of chances in those games. After the group/league, they were comfortably the better side in every game they played en route to the final. You can pick pretty much any game and say the losing team would have won if they finished all their chances.

I dint neccesarily think the narrative is that they're this all conquering side, it's more that they've just won the champions league at the start of their cycle, nobody has hit their prime yet and it's hard to see anything but I huge upward trajectory from them in the next few seasons.

Agreed. An out of form City side and a shit Real Madrid plus a Barca team that can't defend. With the Dippers out it was there for the taking. Again our decision not to sign a number 9 in the window was idiocy and we paid for it.

Still, all that money we made, Kronke was probably shedding crocodile tears whilst internally laughing all the way to the bank.

They won each leg by the odd goal mate, they did very well to win it and it was a great final though.

The American owners will destroy our game as we know it. They don’t want competition or relegation and promotion.
