Had their chances, will be nowhere near the title
Let's see who comes in before letting the fat bird sing. Top striker, Zubimendi, Eze, Rodrygo etc and that may change the picture.

FWIW if the season started tomorrow with the current squads we'd finish 3rd. So plenty of work to do

That high? You're confident you're still better than Chelsea? They only finished 2 points behind you and have actually strengthened. You've got rid of depth.

Yeah I'm confident. They finished 5 points behind us BTW. We had a terrible run of injuries to key players and a stupidly stubborn manager/board who believed Havertz was a proper number 9. I still don't think anyone has a better defence than us. We only lost 4 games all season - drawing so many was our issue as we couldn't get the goals we needed in tight matches. I think our midfield is strong, let's see how Zubimendi does as a Partey replacement though as that's a big unknown.

It's up front where we need to do the business but like you guys also have the same issue with bringing players in - it depends how well any new players settle. I don't think Eze is an upgrade on what we have but adds depth. Rodrygo would be an upgrade but then that'd mean selling Martinelli and hoping Rodrygo settles in fast. And then the striker is key. I reckon it'll be Gyokeres.

Terminating the contract of Tomiyasu, nice to see they treat their injured players well and help them recover from bad injuries....

with him gone, Tierney too, zinchenko likely off, they'll need some more defensive cover. Zubimendi and norgaard seem to be replacements for partey and jorginho, kepa coming in as their back up keeper, that's a big chunk of their budget already gone and i's say they're worse off for it.

Considering they are quite possibly the worst sellers in the division that bring in barely anything in transfers, that's not going to leave them with a lot of room to improve.

They'll get a striker and that will improve them but that's not enough. Unless the dippers implode like we did, it feels like their chance has been and gone.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the dippers, us, Newcastle, Chelsea are all finishing above them this season.

Looks like Zubimendi will be added to an already talented midfield. Just need a top CF and they should be set up to have a go next season.
