Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Got to give credit to their result today away at a inform Leeds.
I was surprised to see how easy they won going off the scoreline.

It might not be popular on here but I agree with bridgeno1 list it just needs David Silva adding to it.
Silva's a good shout but there's an argument that Eden Hazard has a claim for that spot as well. Both amazing players though.

Just seen a genuine suggestion that Raya might break the clean sheet record held by Cech at 24 games. He is currently on 12 with 14 to play, this was all known meaning the suggestion is Arsenal might only concede in 1 remaining game this season.

A fucking obscene suggestion and completely typical of the insane levels of delusion they are pushing. The whole footballing world know they're nothing but an expensive Stoke.

Of course none of them will give a shit if it gets them their first title in over 2 decades and nor should they but this desire to be acknowledged not just as the current best side but as an all time comparable to other legendary sides is laughable.

Absolutely nobody will look back on this season's winners as a vintage team regardless of who it ends up being, there's a substantial decline in quality, no team in this division, including ourselves would lay a glove on those 4 in a row city or indeed the chasing dipper teams, either one would run away with this years title.

Ok I'll bite. From that list Aguero gets into the current Gunners side. Tevez does but we wouldn't play him and Aguero together. Silva does. Toure absolutely doesn't get in ahead of Rice IMHO. Kompany over Saliba or Gabriel is a coin flip thing.
Yaya Toure doesn't get in ahead of Declan Rice?

Bwahahahahahahaha you've just shown the absolute delusion of your entire fan base in one text.

Rice will never ever ever be on the level Yaya was LMFAO.

On their day it's probably:

Hart
Zabaleta, Kompany, Gabriel, Clichy
Yaya Toure, Rice, D. Silva
Saka, Aguero, Nasri

But even if you weren't on a City forum, you'd still struggle to convince neutrals that the current Arsenal crop are better than the City side of the early 2010s. Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Clichy, Yaya Toure, D. Silva, Aguero, and Nasri all won multiple Premier League titles and proved themselves, while this current Arsenal set are yet to win their first major trophy. Only Saka remains from your FA Cup team from 2020, and he didn't even get on the pitch that day.

There's lots of potential for the likes of Raya, Timber, Saliba, Zubimendi, Martinelli, Odegaard etc. to win a handful of titles and big cups over the next five years. The foundation is there. But people won't favourably compare you to any title-winning side from the past until you match their achievements (even if it's just the once). Rice, for example, is a supremely talented footballer, but we don't know if he can mentally carry a team to a title yet like Yaya did twice.

Fernandinho or Gundogan before Rice and Nasri.
Loved Zaba bur Walker before him.
You somehow missed out KDB as well.So no Saka.

David Silva played at a consistently high level in the Premier League for ten seasons. Hazard only managed seven.

Merlin's longevity, on top of his absolute brilliance, elevates his claim to be the best player in his position that the Premier League has seen.

You’d have Rice over both Fernandinho and Rodri?

Fucking hell!

If you had Tevez you would reorganise your side to fit him in.

I know we have a bias towards our teams. But, I am not sure how anyone on earth can suggest Declan Rice is a better footballer than Yaya Toure. You would have to be an indiot to even suggest it. Never mind the absolute gulf in physical attributes between the two, Yaya was just a far better foorballer in every aspect. There is not a sinlgle thing that Declan Rice can do better than Yaya. Its just an absolutely ridiculous take from the poster.
Rice is a very good premier league midfielder. He fits in the Gareth Barry category. Yaya was a truly gifted elite footballer who could win a game on his own. He could do everything. No one with a psir of funtioning eyes who has seen both players play is going to say Rice keeps Yaya out of any team. Peak Yaya walks into every midifeld in the world, today, ahead of any midfielder.

Gerrard? He wouldn’t make the squad.

Seems you like your midfielders to run lots, but be out of position a lot.

You don’t need Roy of the Rovers in central midfield.

I’d say he doesn’t recognise intelligence but he picked David Silva so I’ll let him off. However it does appear that anyone can hay rates Gerrard over Yaya has fallen for the Sky propaganda. Yaya & Tevez turned City from the typical City they all laughed at to the best team in the land.

Exactly.

You can always almost forgive some of the other suggestions he's made because bias is bound to cloud some opinions.

Holding Rice in higher esteem than Yaya though...that's one that cannot be stood up in any facet at all.

God does this fuckin thicko ever learn?
He's either thick as shit or he knows exactly what he's doing by peddling utter pish like this. How many times do these people need to learn the hard way that you win fk all in January!? There's no way he really believes that. It's just the kind of shit talk that will get clipped up and reacted to all over Skys socials. Gold for them.

Can you imagine Rice trying to stop this? The man was unstoppable. He was a steam train with the touch of an angel and skill of a rennasaince artist.
