Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Yeah I think this is fair. I also think you're currently using Haaland more effectively than you have for a while, Foden seems to have re-found his mojo and Doku also seems to have stepped up. With Rodri, you may not see him at his best this season. We had Timber have an identical injury in his 1st game for us, he was out the whole season, came back for the start of the next season but could only realistically play 60 minutes a match before fading. I imagine Rodri will have to go through a similar process.

City are the big unknown for me this season. I'm confident we will finish above Liverpool. City seem inconsistent and if that continues we'd most likely finish above you too but if you get the players to click and be consistent then you truly do have some absolute world class players and could easily go on one of those unstoppable runs. I think probably it may be next season before we see City at their real level but an on song, playing at their best Haaland, Foden, Rodri and Gvardiol (plus Donnarumma) is an immovable object and if they all click this season then you've as good a chance as anyone.
Fair dos

Odegaard has done his MCL. No idea what that means regarding games missed other than it's not as serious as an ACL

Which heals faster, ACL or MCL?
A MCL tear can have a quicker recovery time. Typically, a MCL tear heals within eight weeks or more with rehab. While an ACL tear usually requires surgery and at least six months of rehab or more. As always, there are steps you can take to aid in recovery.

if Legohead watches any of Brentford’s matches, his summer transfer window target is nailed on. £150M bid for Michael Kayode incoming. Surely all those long throws by Rice and Timber
are affecting their balance and another set of arms are needed to ease the load. It’s also my theory that Odegaard shoulder and knee problems started when he was forced to practice long throws in training. He’s only little and constantly planting his foot and whirling his arms must be a factor :)

Worth sharing. Arteta has a better record in his 1st 300 matches than Klopp and Ferguson. Only Pep, Mourinho and Dalglish (I would never have called that tbf) have a better record.

Kenny Charisma had a ready-made team, when he took over at Klanfield.

It’s not really that surprising. Not to me, anyway.

Ferguson was an FA cup win away from getting fired after three seasons, so that one isn't shocking (finished bottom half of the table twice). I know Klopp had a very shaky start too, but likewise I would have had him higher than Arteta.

From the good old WWWeb.

* Klopp has the highest win percentage of any Liverpool manager at 60.9% (299 wins in 491 matches).
* Dalglish had a slightly better win rate than Klopp at 60.91% for the 1985–1991 term, but his combined win rate, including the 2011–2012 season, comes down to 58.27% (222 wins in 381 matches).

I reckon the 87/88 was the best Liverpool side of the 70s-90s era though. Barnes, Beardsley and Alderidge were immense signings under KD. People probably forget how good Barnes was before his achilles was done in, best player in the league for a few years.

I was thinking that if we win the league this season, what an amazing, inspirational story that would be, and a real lesson to never give up on your dreams. It would show that anyone can achieve their goal, just pay a man £10m a year for 6 years and give him a billion quid to spend and you can do it. We all can.

Not sure where this entitlement comes from. You aren’t running anyone down in a title race as you have proven time and time again you don’t have the nerve.

Your only hope is doing what Liverpool did last season and building an insurmountable lead. If ourselves or Liverpool are in range come April then one of us will be winning it.

What they should be worrying about is the fact we were shite last season but from January to the end of the season, we pretty much matched them for points.

I think most would agree we look a bit better this season. If we can be as bad as last season and still match them over the last 5 months of it, then they certainly don't want to let us close to them going into the new year this season.

Even in a dogshit season, we still got stronger in the back half.

Pretty sure we are miles better this season than we were last. We had Saka, Gabriel and Havertz out for much of the 2nd half of the season, all replaced by dross. Arsenal have a significantly stronger squad now. City are better this season but so are Arsenal. I'd say as things stand Dippers are worse.

Miles better?

Last season you went to Anfield and drew. This season lost

Last season you beat us at the emirates. This season drew

I don’t think you are miles better at all. Zubumendi is definitely a downgrade on Partey at least in premier league football and that Gyokeres looks an extremely average player.

So far from what I have seen from the new strikers in the league if given the choice I would definitely take Ekitike, Woltemade and even Sesko over that Swedish fridge you have leading the line.

Zubimendi a downgrade on Partey? Not a chance. He's been excellent. Re the results vs last season - we also won at the Swamp and drew last year and won at Newcastle and lost last year.

Re Gyokeres - he's doing a job by occupying the centre backs and making space for the wide guys. He's no Haaland but he's been useful.

BBC reporting Arsenal are considering playing at Wembley while they expand the Emirates.
Very early days so no info on increased capacity or length of time for the job.
