Arsenal thread | 2025/26

I will admit that I turned away in annoyance from the piece on the beeb about the Arsenal supporters club. It's the use of that bloody word “iconic” that irritated me. It's everywhere now. I don't think anyone who uses it stops at all to think what it might mean, or whether it has any content at all.
Anyway, after a minute of annoyance, I relented, and went back and watched it. Respect. Respect for that old lady, and what she's done, and that place. Salt-of-the-earth supporter, doesn't matter which club they support. If I'm honest, I was a little bit jealous. Wish we had a place like that, completely independent, within a stone's throw of the Etihad.

If Arsenal don't win it this year, every player and manager should resign from football for the rest of their careers.

Everything is on a plate for them.

It would be the biggest bottle job of all bottle jobs if they don't win it this year.

He's a Man City fan I thought?
Is he fuck a City fan, claims to have supported us as a kid but hates us with a passion.
Lee Dickhead never misses an opportunity to have a pop at us or blow smoke up Arsenal's arse.
Where does he rank in the all-time Arsenal list with his 450+ appearances?

I'm not sure he comes across as all that much of an Arsenal fan to Gooners tbh. There are some obvious ones - like Keown has almost North Korean propaganda-esque levels of Arsenal fanaticism.

The one I find curious is Micah Richards. I know he's ex-City but that guy is a Gooner if I ever saw one. Just look at his commentary on CL nights. And I can't figure out why he would be - he's a Brummie, never played for Arsenal either.

Richards was an Arsenal fan as a kid and is frankly a clueless buffoon.
He was at Oldham before he came to City and I believe he was brought up in Leeds.
Keown and Dixon are both biased as fuck, basically Arsenal shills.

Arsenal shit the bed every year. Is that an opinion or a fact?

It's uninformed and devoid of context. Our injuries and poor back ups have been a big issue in the past. For instance in 22/23 we went from Saliba to Rob Holding. Ramsdale also publically admitted to having concentration problems during games

Every team has injuries, especially towards the end of the season.

In 21/22, Aymeric Laporte played through injury during the last few weeks of the season, because he was the least hurt of our centre-backs, playing alongside Fernandinho in several games.

So 2 world class players as opposed to Holding who couldn't start in the Championship after he left. The PL is a squad game

They'll win the league comfortably this year. Nobody's up to challenging them and it'll take until next season for teams to stop the set-piece system they've devised. They've spent a lot of money but they've spent it well and Arteta has gradually turned this team into one that's very, very hard to beat. They might not reach 90 points but nobody will be close enough to make them shake imo.

90+ points is usually only really achievable if you have another team competing with you until the end.

If they win it by March, they will play a B team and go for the Champions League.

Liverpool lost 4 games last year, 2 of which were after they had won the league.
