Arsenal thread | 2025/26

They have the best squad in the League and have strength in depth in all areas. This should be the year when that significant spending in the Summer reaps its rewards and I can't see anyone else winning the League. The CL is a different matter and far too early to predict a winner.

Yeah, it's hard to post without seeming smug, and that's not my intention but I don't see how Odegaard gets back in. Re Gyokeres he's vastly superior to Merino - he's no Haaland but he's a battering ram that the ball 'sticks' to and occupies the central defenders creating space for the wingers. Havertz also to come back as well as Gabby Jesus. And of course our main attacking weapon Gabriel!

I actually think the deep squad works for us in 2 ways. Firstly cover for injuries/rotation but also it raises competition so the players have to deliver every match or they will be out of the team. Realistically only Rice is truly guaranteed to start (and Gabriel when fit). The rest have to fight for their spots.
Raya and Saliba.

I don’t think they win the the champions league this season Arsenal. I just think Madrid have this weird luck with this competition especially with Mbappe in the best form he’s ever been in.

Arsenal do have one of the best squads but you can’t count out Real Madrid. They’ve got a hold over the champions league.

They are right now the best team in Europe! Am hoping by end of January they are not and Rice looks haggard because Arteta plays him in every game! Rice Saka are two are world class

They showing every other team up on corners and free kicks with the amount of goals they getting from them! We either don’t practice enough or web haven’t got one player who can put a pin point ball in to where it needs to go..
Rice is the best dead ball deliver currently this season. You can practice all you like but if the ball isn't good enough you dead diddly squat.

I’d be amazed if Madrid manage it this year. I think over 2 legs Arsenal would have far too much for them. Could only see PSG and Bayern who’re capable of beating them but Arsenal look the strongest team in it

Weird. PSG was 'tougher' even though they lost to 10 man Bayern because they play in a way that suits Bayern as opposed to Arsenal who smother teams and are more aggressive and should have won 5-1. I wonder if he's taking cues from Arne Slot. Next time we should just try to see who can out Tiki-Taka each other.

In the real world Bayern fans are saying that's the best team they've faced since their treble season.

Have a feeling the City side they got hammered by in the 22/23 season might have been better ;)

Good - because you’re no where near that level, especially from a footballing perspective.
Well we aren't near that level from a trophy perspective. I think it's natural to see things with rose tinted lenses (like this season Arsenal are only ahead because City are 'in transition' or whatever) and that your own team won things 'better'. At the end of the season let's see if there's any silverware and then the discussion can take place.

Just to confirm - that was a team that won the treble as well as third title in a row - and would go on to win an historic 4th title in a row.

You’re really showing your delusion if you think you’re anywhere near that level. Even Liverpool under Klopp couldn’t get anywhere near that and they were a far better side than this current Arsenal group.

Ps

You’ve always shown us your real character several times now. You completely vanish from this forum when you’ve thrown it all away. 3 years in a row now you’ve been gone in May and not come back until you’re top again.

I didn't say the team was or wasn't better. I'm saying let's wait until the end of the season and look at if there's any silverware and at that point a discussion can be had. At the moment the 'we beat Bayern' trophy doesn't really cut the mustard.

But if Arsenal win the league with 90+ points, win a CL and a cup, then the discussion can be had. Nothing to be said at the present moment with an empty trophy cabinet.

Re me 'disappearing', pretty sure I was on here all last season and we were never top. I think this is confirmation bias on your end TBH. I'm not actually avidly mad about football to the extent that it ruins my day if we lose, but of course I'd love to win something meaningful and I reckon this season we have an excellent chance in the league at least (I guess in your opinion because you and Liverpool have 'allowed' us to I suppose).

Your team is nowhere near our treble team wtf. Our team won the treble including the PL 3 times in a row and you haven’t even won it this year although I predict you will. Unless you win 3 in a row your current team is not even close to even Klopp’s teams, forget about ours.

Unfortunately there won’t be any discussions to be had because you completely disappear from the forum if you don’t get the job done.

3 years in a row now you’ve been here but vanished in May for several months until you’re top again part way through the next season.

You’re a coward.

Peak Pep Man City & Peak Klopp Liverpool would comfortably dispose of the current Arsenal team there is absolutely no doubt about that.

As much plaudits as Arsenals defence gets prime Salah, Firmino & Mane would tear them to shreds.

As for peak Man City. Well Arsenal would be pinned back so much that they wouldn’t even get out of their own penalty area so their primary weapon of set pieces would be absolutely useless.

Wow, so on a football forum you're saying I disappear when the football season is over, only to return when the season starts again?

Dude you've been posting repeatedly on the 'will City win the league?' thread about how firstly Spurs will get a draw, then Bayern will win and Arsenal's heads will drop, and then it will be Chelsea's turn. If Arsenal win against Chelsea (pretty likely tbh) then no doubt it will be Villa away where the Gunners come unstuck.

Like I said, fans tend to look through rose tinted lenses. At no point have I said Arsenal were comparable to that City side yet 3 separate posters have started an argument in an empty room about it! I've just said let's wait until the end of the season to determine how good this current Gunners team is.

I've watched Arsenal for many years and this is the best defensive unit I've seen, but attacking wise the Invincibles team was far superior.
